Cricket's got a new home... too big??

Hey all ^_^ I haven't been around for a while because of exams. Today we bought Cricket a new cage- it's a Flexarium (the snap-together frame and zipper mesh.) It's AWESOME, and when we get the chance we are also going to go out to the greenhouse (it's about a half hour away) and get him some...

    toungue stuck to me

:D Mine does that all the time. If they hit you with their tongue try not to move- I know it startles you, but don't pull back or anything, it might sprain their tongue. Usually it doesn't hurt them.

Why does my veiled hiss at me and try to attack me?

Veileds are like that. Don't worry, it's normal. As he gets older he may TOLERATE your presence, but I wouldn't recommend handling him anymore than you have to. Some of them don't mind, others will always hate it. It's just how they are.

Ugly Cham Contest? not serious, really

NAME HIM EMERIL... I'm too late. I don't think he's ugly, I think he's cute! There was a chameleon rescued by the store we get our stuff from... they have only reptiles, great people they are... half his casque was MISSING, like... cut off... along with a bunch of the spines from the upper...

    Free Veiled!!

I'm glad you get to keep him! The apartment we moved into said no pets too, but once I showed our landlady Cricket, she said he's fine as long as his food doesn't escape :p Maybe try showing yours? When he realizes the cham won't be roaming the house, he may let you... if not... invest in a...

baby pardalis (nosy mitsio) with 'horn'

That is so cute! I really have nothing intelligent to say on the subject because I have no idea what it is. I know snakes have "egg teeth" that fall off when they're a few days old or something like that, but this looks like nothing even close to that... get more pics of him as he grows up.

Cricket took a fall... :o( (LONG)

You're in Orillia, btw? Me too! :D

Cricket took a fall... :o( (LONG)

Oh man... I don't even wanna think about that! The good news is, though... it looks like he's doing well. His eye now closes when he's asleep, barely any "goo" anymore, and when it is... it goes away on its own. Whew!

    yemen curtains

Most veileds are mean and nasty, from what I hear :p To get him back in the cage you'll have to be VERY patient. Maybe get a branch from his cage and wait for him to climb on it if you're afraid of a bite.

Cricket took a fall... :o( (LONG)

Haha, I'm glad yours have been okay thus far. I hate when they do random unexpected things like that. Well... it's cute when it's something harmless... not so cute when it ends in them landing on the floor! New update. He slept with one eye open again last night, but the Boy said that there...

    Veiled Questions

Well... we had a dripper, but it was incredibly inconvenient because it made a mess of the cage. Now we alternate the dripper, few-times-a-day misting, and sometimes I will put an ice cube on top of the cage where it will drip over the leaves. We also have one of those motorized waterfall things...

    Otto: back from the vet

That is really good news. I'm glad to hear that, looks like he'll be okay! Better to be safe than sorry when it comes to chameleons.

    Hunger strike

Mine is "fasting" also. An interesting and very abstract thought? Chameleons (veiled, at least) come from Saudi Arabia, right? It's the Islamic month of Ramadhan, when Muslims fast. (My fiancee is Muslim.) This happens right around September every year. Maybe it's a habit they picked...

    Do silkworms stink?

100 silkworms in the basement would make MOST women sad :p I've always felt that crickets are way stinkier than silkworms. Grosser, too. Worms are also less likely to escape, and that's a plus. If stink is a problem, keep some open containers of baking soda near the cage, it's a non-chemical...

    dosent she look huge???

I wouldn't wait :( "Wait and see" is the only way of knowing other than going to a vet, and there's a 50% or higher chance that it won't turn out well... a trip to the vet is an inconvenient pain in the butt, but it's worth it if it's possibly going to save your girl's life.

    The 'M' word for Otto..

Okay, cool ^_^ Hmm... the foliage... does he try and eat any of it? Maybe some of the plants in your enclosure are of the variety that block calcium absorbtion- going back to my previous post- I'm really taking shots in the dark here though, you seem about 10000000x more experienced than I...

    dosent she look huge???

At this point I might recommend a trip to the vet... it could be nothing, but if she's constipated or pregnant (er... I guess that's not the proper term for it, but whatever) you'll want to make sure it's taken care of. Some females, unless conditions are perfect... will hold the eggs in until...

    The 'M' word for Otto..

I am by no means an expert, but that sounds like an excellent setup for him... I don't know what could possibly be wrong. The only thing I could even remotely think of is that your heat lamp is also your UV lamp... we have a heat lamp AND a seperate UV lamp for Cricket, because I heard that...

    Is he looking healthy?

Awww, the poor guy :( He looks ok. Just make sure he gets a LOT of water. Maybe go to the vet for a checkup.

Cricket took a fall... :o( (LONG)

Thank you :o is that your guy in your sig pic? He's a nice looking Veiled :) Cricket is about the same today as the last few days, after cleaning his eye this morning he's reacting again to movement on his left side like normal, doesn't seem to have trouble walking. Two things: 1. Last...
