If you catch wild ones you should keep them in a bucket or tank and feed them dark leafy greens. Within about a week, all the sick ones will die off and the ones that are left will be safe to feed to your chams.
What kind of chameleon do you have? If it's a veiled, you don't have to worry too much about humidity. As long as she is drinking enough water she should be fine. If you have a panther or jacksons, it's a different story.

Nope, not thinking of a basilisk. Water dragons can definitely get really large. Maybe you just had an unusually small one....or maybe he didn't get proper nutrition or something. Most babies are 12 inches or more.
