Just noticed you live in texas. I, myself, live in texas. San Antonio to be exact.
With an ice pack, being present at delivery, and a healthy chameleon to begin with; he/she will arrive safely.
Should have kept my old one after i built the new one. Could have used it in the back for the one hour or decent temperatures at 8 in the morning. never had a problem with crickets chewing through mine, had it for 5 months maybe. again, my only problem was running temperature probes into it...
@suzi - unless its changed in the passed 6 months, the chameleon package that they had advertised when I made my purchase only listed the zipper style cage in the package
My Purchase was from LLLReptile. The package is worth it. You will still want to buy a few extra things like vines, foliage, dripper, etc. I believe it comes with a little of each? The cage will hold up, its a bit wobbly but will hold up. The zipper screen was my least favorite thing about...
ahhh, so some woodshop skills?
lucky...build anything...at no cost? If i had an employer like that they'd lose a lot of money cause I'd build something that I probably would be able to afford if I had to pay the expenses.
Whats your ideal and what kind of Cham and how old?
I've currently got my mister set-up to mist for 4 minutes, 30 minutes after the lights are at 100%. For 2 minutes 4 hours later. 2 minutes again 4 hours after that. and then for 4 minutes 2 hours before the lights are completely out.
Hoping this ups the humidity. Good thing is...while I'm...
Okay, I've added a vinyl shower curtain, trimmed & attached, to the back and right side of my enclosure on the outside.
I purchased two plants, and have potted them in two hanging pots. I purchased a Dracaena and a Hibiscus. The plants and the curtains on the side have brought my humidity...
My ideal was to give a good 20 minutes misting 30 minutes after the "sun rises" and then 4 hours later, a good 5 minutes misting, then 4 hours later a good 5 minutes misting, and then 2 hours before the "sun sets" a 10 minute mist.
I'm curious about imitating seasons with this controller...
Received EcoZone today! Too bad I dont get home from work tomorrow. But I've had all night to read the manual and pre-plan my settings to use.
I've noticed...I don't think you can set different misting duration's for your different time of days. say I want a good long misting in the...
I dont have plastic sheeting, the back and right side is against a wall and a fake tree is near the left. So, some clear vinyly curtains would be good on a few sides as well as a couple more live plants. I may buy a few hanging plants tomorrow then.
My thermostat is located in the hallway...
Bump
The cool mist humidifier is out of question. 1) I had it run a full 1.2 gallons gal of water for misting and the humidity rose 1%. 2) It scares the crap out of him
I've adjusted misting from 2min mist every hour to 2 min mist every two hours. No humidty change.
I CAN NOT get...
think i may fork out the money for a DIY cage, small if its cost effective and purchase a hibiscus and a few vines to put in it for outside only. Should be able to water the plant and maybe mist a few times while he's out there. As far as shade, is one plant good enough or should I cover a...
I have considered, and I've looked at DIY's website and plan to buy one of their larger cages, but having spent so much money recently into his current enclosure, it may be awhile before I can dish out extra for some outside equipment.
That, and I'm still contemplating space as my back...
So, I know handling is not the best for chameleons. I try not to handle Waldo at all....BUT
...recently, Ive been picking him up out of his cage, especially after reading all the threads on natural sunlight and behavior. I'll come home and pick Waldo up and sit on the back porch with him as...
Humidity Problems
So, I'm having trouble keeping the humidity up in the cage.
I've got the mister to spray for 1 minute every hour and its only sitting at 30-35% Humidity.
Suggestions?
I added a Cool Mist Humidifier, just not got it cleaned, hosed and running through the top of the...
..just making sure patters or color arent any sign of accidental negligence.....he's healthy. his poops are enormous, larger then ive ever seen before.
Ive read through your thread Cami...My cam doesnt compare at all to yours in pattern or color, possibly in size. Without measuring him with a ruler, I'd say he looks to be the same size compared to him on your hand and him on mine, roughly 6-8" tip of tail to nose with his tail straight out...
