Detailed account of female/male introduction - plus questions?

Honestly, a 16"x16"x30" enclosure is probably a little too small for an adult male Jackson's even alone? I would recommend an 18"x18"x36" minimum for a male, as they are more active. The smaller one would probably be fine for the female, although ideally the same for her. I will say, I do love...

    Misting System Advice

I have a Mist King and so far absolutely love it!! The timer is super easy to program, with up to 8 mistings a day in as low as 1 sec intervals. The $100 value system can support up to 10 nozzles, and all you need to buy in addition is a cheap bucket from a home improvement store. There is also...

    diy feeder cups?

So I've been building my cham's new enclosure with a built-in removable feeder cup, and my original intent was for crickets as primary feeders, but after research Dubia roaches seem like the best option. Just curious if they will climb the screen backing (sunny d style feeding cup, lined with...

    Handling/acclimating?

I'm trying to acclimate my new Ambilobe, and I've had him for almost a month. He seems pretty skittish?! If he's in the middle of his cage on a branch, he tries to hide behind it when I come in the room. I tried to handle him once, and he turned almost complete black and white, walked quickly...

    feeders?

I tried feeding him giant mealworms yesterday, first from his cup, and then I put a couple on the screen so they would crawl around on it. I hadn't feed him any crickets yet, and he is used to eating in the morning. He seemed interested in watching them walk on the screen, and I for sure thought...

    Misting schedule/hydration?

I'm just using a drainage tray I bought with the cage at lllreptile, drilled small holes in the middle of the floor to drain into the tray, there's a pothos on top on the holes for weight to pool the water through the holes. I got a wet/dry vac that attaches to the top of a home depot bucket to...

    feeders?

I've only been able to get my 4 month old Ambilobe to eat crickets so far. I've tried meal worms and giant meal worms but he doesn't seem interested in them, as they don't move much? I'm cup feeding and he readily eats 15-20 small crickets a day. I want to vary his diet more obviously, so any...

    Misting schedule/hydration?

So, I'm just trying to err on the side of caution as I know it's better to catch things sooner rather than later. I've had my male 4 month old Ambilobe for a few weeks now and he seems to be doing great eating, drinking, and growing like crazy, but the other day I noticed his urates were yellow...

    Humidifier

I've been using a Crane Drop humidifier, it's like $50, but works great. It's an ultrasonic cool mist. I have it running next to the enclosure, and it got the humidity up from 20% to 60+%, and my panther sits/sleeps near it a lot. I have a Mist King running at intervals throughout the day for...

    New cham, New home

I'm just worried the ambient temp will get too high with a stronger basking bulb in a 16"x16"x30" enclosure? He seems pretty active right now, basks for a bit after eating in the a.m. and before bedtime. Well, I was thinking when he moves into a bigger home the quad fixture with one 6%, 2x 6.5k...

    New cham, New home

Oh, and the basking temp, I was going from the care sheets I've read for babies/juveniles, which was listed a little lower than adults? Is this wrong?

    New cham, New home

I've got a few pothos growing right now so they are nice and viney when I finish his big cage, they have rather large drainage holes at the bottom, and I'll see how the one in his current cage does with frequent watering, otherwise I'll repot with some sand. I'm giving him Repashy Calcium Plus...

    New cham, New home

Thanks for the feedback! I was planning on getting him one of the linear Arcadia HO T5 dual with the 6% and 6.5k daylight bulbs for his larger enclosure. I like the quad ones that you can have a plant bulb in as well, but I'm not sure if that's overkill for a 24"x24"x48" or not?

    New cham, New home

Hi, I'm new here to the forum and have recently acquired my 4 month old male blue bar Ambilobe Panther. After many years ago of successfully keeping several species including Veils, Jackson, and an Armored chameleon (Brookesia Perarmata, this was 16 years ago, and I wish I could get another one...
