The silver one is a heat bulb (I forgot to mention this so my apologies). The tall black dome was the daylight blue (which is the one that broke) and the double lamp only had one functioning bulb slot, which held the reptisun UVB.
Overall, very chaotic. I was hoping to fix it all when the cage...
Absolutely! Thanks for the insight.
Here are a few pictures of Rango’s tank and the lights I used (featuring the man himself)!
The lighting is NOT usually this dark, but one of his bulbs burst this morning and needs replaced. Otherwise, this was what PetCo gave us the thumbs-up for. (Although...
Hey, Beman!
We are in the process of collecting materials for his new cage. For a project like this, it could easily take a few weeks to build the frame after materials have been gathered. We’re working on it, though!
As for his UVB… one of his bulbs has blown out as of this morning. I will be...
From what I’ve gathered… I believe Rango is maybe 5-6 months old (4 when I got him maybe 2 months ago), but my poor veiled has MBD. ☹️
Each bug is coated in calcium powder unless it’s time for Reptivite, which is about twice a month.
I’m aware that adult chams do not find food in the wild...
I decided to spend a bit of extra money on hornworms for Rango. However, his reaction wasn’t a pleasant one.
He immediately puffed up when introduced to the worm, and held his hand up to his face, entering karate (defense) mode. He even shrunk away from the worm, even though I wasn’t moving it...
UPDATE:
It took a bit of wiggling around (gently shaking the roaches in a bowl where Rango could see them), but he finally ate three of them!
He got some extra Reptivite nutrients from it, too, since it’s that time of the month. :)
I’ve been attempting to introduce dubia roaches into my veiled’s diet for maybe a day now. I avoided them because… well… they’re roaches, but I’ve also realized that they’re important for his diet, so I set aside that fear.
Rango ate one roach and a hornworm treat before calling it a day...
I’ve been a bit worried about Rango lately. I think his turrets are beginning to look a bit… sunken? I’m aware this means he may be dehydrated.
He is hand-misted twice a day, before and after his lights turn off. Of course I haven’t personally witnessed his drinking, but apparently this isn’t...
As the months pass, I love watching my boy grow and explore. One of the major differences I’ve noticed is his appearance overall.
These are two amazing pictures of Rango. Please excuse the tank setup, it’s currently a WIP and he will be receiving a proper tank very soon.
The first picture is...
Rango is a growing boy. He’s slowly developing (or finishing, I should say) his big boy patterns!
My absolute favorite are his black face markings, which I find super adorable! Rango has just finished shedding his face, so they’re especially dark. ❤️
(Second pic is better, but I have no clue...
So, I’ve been thinking lately… maybe it’s time that I start to keep crickets instead of traveling half an hour every time I need to buy some. (I live in the Midwest, so it’s hard to get shipments here! Most bugs would die in the process ☹️)
For a cricket enclosure, could I keep them in some...
Absolutely all good points! ❤️
My floor is made of soft carpeting, and I have a faux fur carpet on top of that, which is maybe about 2” thick. I’m sure it doesn’t help the Cham much if he falls, but at least it’s better than cold wood flooring!
My Cham will ALWAYS be supervised, and my door...
Hello again!
Thank you everyone for the advice and changes you’ve recommended to make for Rango’s new enclosure. As well as a bigger and better tank, I am considering a free-roaming area for him.
I’ve done a bit of looking and have found that people will sometimes hang natural branches or...
Awesome! I wasn’t sure about the dimensions 😅 I know that Chams in general need a taller tank, but I’m incredibly bad at measuring! (It’s a talent, so thank goodness I’m not the one building it)
I’ll update my blueprints to accommodate this :)
Hey everyone!
As I’ve been telling a few individuals on this website, Rango is getting a tank upgrade soon. It will be made of chicken/rabbit mesh on all 4 sides and have a 6% T5 light!
My dad (thank goodness for dads!) asked me what wood would be safe for Rango. I played it safe and told him...
I’m really sorry, but I don’t :(
I’ve searched the internet, and nobody seems to have had this same occurrence. All I’m seeing are results for MBD symptoms (which is fair), and the classic chameleon leaf shimmy.
It’s similar to a little rumble, if that makes sense? Understandable if you’re...
