Unfortunately it cannot, The mount on the fixture is fixed and while you can raise and lower the light, it is not possible to angle the light without bending the arm.
I got home to a pleasant surprise, the mailman dropped off my solarmeter a day early. I flipped the light around so it was shining out of my cage and took a reading at 12 inches first and then took a reading with the light through my screen cage and there was a pretty big difference. The...
The 50w is a little bit brighter, the 70w would be way too much down here in socal. The double sided tape looked like 3m, but i'm sure it wasn't, if you are going to mount this to a screen cage I would recommend removing whatever double sided tape it came with and replacing it with 3m or using...
Sorry, I guess I should have clarified. I exchanged my lights for 50w and have those already, the solarmeter is what I am waiting for which will be here tomorrow. As far as the lights go, the only thing I have noticed is that both of my chameleons seems to bask more frequently under it. As far...
It's a soft wood so it will soak up water, yes I have my lights on from 10-10. I recently upgraded both cages to metal halide and so far I am really liking it.
Nope, I just remove the plants and clean them every other week the floor gets wiped down as needed. My mist schedule is a bit different, 10 am for 5 minutes and then at 1 and 5 for 3 minutes each. The wood gets soacked, but seems to dry out overnight. I'll take a couple pictures tonight for you.
I did end up going out and getting some more, this time they are in a spill proof container inside my original container. I wonder what kind of damage 100+ large crickets can do in the next couple weeks. My fingers are crossed that they stay out of the house...for my own personal safety.:o
Geez, reading that actually made me feel much better. I can only imagine how much that would suck... If this had been indoors, I could kiss my hobby goodbye.
Was browsing around online and found this article quite interesting.

Well this morning I woke up and went outside to grab some crickets for my chameleons and I found my cricket bin upside down with no crickets inside. My best guess is that our gardener must have knocked it over yesterday evening...
Atleast it wasn't indoors...
These will not work in a regular dome fixture, you could DIY this with an e30 socket and the ballast which is a fullham highhorse. I can write something up if you guys are interested but there won't be much as far as savings go.
There is a fair amount of adjustment, I can drop it down so that it touches the screen and raise it up about 7 inches above the screen. They do have larger units a 50w and a 70w if you are living somewhere cold. I am in socal so I opted for the smallest lamp. I'll take some pictures today...
It is marketed as an all in one lamp, much like the mercury vapor lamps. The difference is in the spectrum and intensity of light that you get and that these have an external ballast so replacement lamps are cheaper. I don't see why the light would not be adequate for live plants, I will dig...
