The white around the nostrils is normal. This is how chameleon excrete extra salts and minerals. Despite common belief, it is NOT from too much supplements, do NOT decrease your supplementation. It should clear up after a little while. If you are concerned about breathing, you can upload a...
As the title says, I'm trying to figure out the exact pronunciation of Chamaeleo Calyptratus (Latin name of Veiled chameleon). I can't seem to find much on the internet, so I figured I'd consult the experts. ;) I need to know and be able to say it for a 4-H project. Thanks in advance! :D
Breeding crickets is sooo worth it in my opinion. Cuts down the cost of crickets, obviously, but you also you know where they're coming from and what they've eaten. Never bred hornworms, but I've been trying to breed silkworms, since I have a mulberry tree in my yard. If or when I'm...
A cham who refuses supers!!! I don't believe it! ;)
Honestly, if he doesn't eat them, he doesn't eat them. Maybe it's better not to get him addicted. But if you really want him to eat them, don't feed him anything for a couple of days, then only offer him the supers. He'll probably...
Small cage for young tiny chams is good, as long as you upgrade once he gets older. What kind of chameleon are you going to get? Veiled chameleons can be easily sexed from birth... Or "hatch", I guess. :o ;)
Unfortunately, I have also found light fixtures kind of pricey. I suggest that you purchase from one of our site sponsors. LLL reptile has some reasonably priced fixtures. I believe Pangea does as well. What kind of cage are you planning on using?
Welcome to the Forums! :) This is a great place to learn about chameleons and there a lot of very knowledgable members. It is always refreshing to see someone doing their research and getting prepared BEFORE purchasing a chameleon. :D
What supplements is he getting? Does he get multivitamin supplement? If so, what brand and does it have vitamin A in it? Also, what type of UVB light does he have? Is it compact?
I really think it depends on the cham. Veileds are unfortunately stereotyped as "aggressive" (which is technicality defensiveness), but not all of them act this way. Mine for example, has never bitten me and has only hissed or gaped a couple of times (at unfamiliar strangers). Most of the...
Can you post a picture? Is he acting sick in any other way? Also, please fill out this form: https://www.chameleonforums.com/how-ask-help-66/
There might be something stuck in his eye. Do you know if he has shed recently? Are the eyes swollen?
I'm pretty sure Pascal is supposed to be a Veiled. Pascal is another story... I mean, he has EYELIDS!!! (Plural) What are they teaching children these days? Sheesh! ;)
