    Anybody know the breed

Agreed. It’s definitely not a Sambava that’s for sure.

Kinyongia Boehmei - Breeding Project Log

Thank you! Can you see what times you incubated at, and how long gestation was? I’m at about 38 days, I’m expecting 45-55 for gestation, and 5-7 months for hatching. Yes I will keep ya in mind! At this point, theirs enough interest, including you that probably all of them are spoken for which...

    Fogging

Docs last reply is 100% spot on! I am glad you brought up the point about weighing chameleons in the wild at sun down, and re weighing the same animals before sun up and they found they gain weight. The only explanation to that is taking in water. I go about it the same as Doc I kept...

    Fogging

The bottom access door where you have your fan. Do you cover that at night? If not, cover it and you’ll get another 15-25% humidity jump.

    Misting, how often?

Very much a variable question. Depends on a lot of things. Type of chameleon, type of enclosure, your natural humidity levels, etc. those care guides given are definitely a good start.

Kinyongia Boehmei - Breeding Project Log

Update. September 28th when I paired them, she scale would bounce back and forth at 7 and 8 grams, but ultimately landed on 7 grams. I weighed her just now before feeding and she is at 9 grams. So about a 12% weight gain in 4 weeks. Today marks 28 days since their first pairing. I am expecting...

    Kinyongia multituberculata

They are incredible species! Here are the two I had from Seeco. One of my biggest regrets is not sticking in and breeding them like Seeco and I had planned.. my fingers are crossed they come in again. Jeremy, you’re 100% right.. their scales, and activity levels are something special. And...

    Deadly Chameleon Myth series

As usual, you’re spot on dude! That is something I do notice with you, Dr. Anderson and a few others.. you science people (ha!) are so detailed! Even the smallest of experiments or husbandry changes you pay so much closer attention and notice the smallest variations in things. I will strive to...

    Deadly Chameleon Myth series

Yes you did, I was just jumping on to give my perspective in response to your comment. I also could be wrong, but I think the misting during the day is no issue as long as the heat lamps are off. As hard as we try, theirs just no way we’re ever going to create natural environments because theirs...

    Deadly Chameleon Myth series

I disagree. There were a lot of RI issues before fog. My first panther back in 2009 actually, I had RI issues. I took a 10 year hiatus, and got back 2 years ago. I jumped on the fog bandwagon and have had fantastic results. I feel my chams are hydrated better, and honestly I go though less...

Are High Temperatures Necessary for Digestion in Chameleons?….

I remember reading this when it got posted. Definitely a good read, especially for those new to chameleons. I remember thinking when I was new that I had to feed before their basking lights turned off or the food wouldn’t get digested.. incorrect! Now sometimes if I’m behind they get fed close...

Kinyongia Boehmei - Breeding Project Log

Update. Pairing started last Sunday, and I’ve left them together ever since. I was anticipating 2-4 days, but we’re on day 8 now and still pairing! They sleep relatively close together, feed and bask together as well. It’s been a cool experience to watch. Pairing has been taking place every...

    Chameleonaire is addicted

Yeah I wouldn’t stress to much. Don’t offer supers anymore, he will eventually break and eat something else. Have you tried crickets at all? Roaches have been hit and miss for me but all my chams have always ate crickets. Either way, just a game of chicken to be played. You’ll win eventually. lol

    Chameleonaire is addicted

How old is your chameleon? Generally, they can go a couple weeks without food. I wouldn’t stress too much unless it gets close to around 2 weeks. My bet is your cham will break before then and eat the roaches, crickets or something besides the supers.

15 years in the making - Custom Enclosure

Thank you. We’re 8 months in or so in use and so far so good. Theirs a few thing so would do differently, but easily retrofittable. At some point, I’ll redo the doors with actual glass as the acrylic has some bowing to it. But functionality, it’s spot on and holding fantastic parameters!

Kinyongia Boehmei - Breeding Project Log

Update. Great news! We had a successful pairing today. The make has been interested everytime trying, but she has not. She never got aggressive, but would certainly run away from him. She would get some really dark greens striping when she was not interested. This morning, I noticed she has...
