I am sorry I've been absent from the boards lately... I've missed you all! There has been some changes and some exciting news I have to share with you all, which will explain my absense.
I have actively been looking for property and I have just signed a contract to a new residence that has...
Tuesday sounds great for me as well. Let me know the time. Sorry I haven't been around lately! I will post some news for you all so you will see what I have been up to :).
Welcome to the chameleon forums!
I agree with the others that you should either get a veiled or panther chameleon as your first chameleon. They are two of the most hardy chameleons as far as looking at chameleons as a whole.
You have definitely come to the right place to get great advice...
I wouldn't go any bigger than a 12x12x18 or so. When you set up his habitat, make sure that the vines are not too close to the heating lamp and also make sure he can reach his feeders that may hide in corners and edges of the cage. With my babies, I usually use a shallow cup with an orange...
Thank you Noah for the nice recommendation! Yes, I specialize in panther chameleons, however, I have plans to add various other exotic species of reptiles as they come available to me later down the road. I am looking forward to being able to offer rare and exotic species! So keep watch on my...
You are absolutely right lele, they are Japanese beetles and a real pain and annoyance (to say it nicely).
However, this brings up an issue everyone should be aware of... Neighbors do spray their yards with pesticides to protect their gardens and flowers. So be careful all! :)
I have shipped many chameleons without any problems. All my chameleons are shipped overnight with an arrival by 10:30am with UPS overnight shipping. Problems occur if 1) someone ships an unhealthy chameleon - so be sure you are buying from a reputable breeder with a guaranteed arrival and 2)...
I totally agree with you Heika with a few exceptions. Ambilobes, Sambava, Diego Suarez, and light colored pink Ankaramy have "rest" colors that do not show their bright colors unless fired up. However, Nosy Be, Ambanja, and darker pink Ankaramy usually always display their colors. For...
In captivity, panther chameleons usually don't get larger than 18" including the tail. However, they do need a larger cage as adults. There is only one species of panther chameleons (Fucifer pardalis); the differences between panther chameleons are the "locales" in which they were located that...
Hi Roger,
I have many panther chameleons, as well as the species of chameleons listed under my signature. If there are any you are interested in, I'd be more than happy to send you a photo for your drawings. Let me know and welcome to the forums :).
Your drawings are very nice!
The veiled and panther chameleons are the hardiest rather than the easiest of chameleons to care for when considering chameleons as a whole. I would say there isn't really a chameleon that can be considered "easy" to care for, unless one follows all the requirements and set ups needed to have...
Yay Hermie! And cheers to a job very nicely done Jam. You have really put a lot of effort, money, and time to help Hermie and there is no doubt he couldn't have done it without you. Great job!
I wonder if he is grabbing his legs because he is used to the splints and he may be feeling a bit...
Noah: Great job on saving the little guys life... That must have been a horror to walk into and see. Thinking about it just, well, (is there an icon to indicate feeling a bit ill?). Anyway, great work Noah... it's always nice to see a successful saving of a chameleon that goes through some...
The times I have seen those June bugs, they are the shiny green color and they eat every bit of a rose bush they can get! I stopped trying growing my roses because of them. Pain in the rear. So be careful all when feeding them your chameleons, because I know that many rose keepers will spray...
I have to agree the pink and blue in that chameleon is a bit strange. Although, some Andapa have some pink to them and all Ankaramy are pink/red/orange-red without any other coloration variations. It does look suspiciously like a hybrid to me.
A Picasso is actually considered an Ambilobe; the person who first found this locale gave them the name "Picasso" because of their array of colorations. Picasso, is actually a "designer" name. However, there are some "Picasso" panther chameleons that are still on the market that were actually...
Hi all,
I know there have been a lot of questions on how to set up your habitat for your panther chameleon and actually, the same habitats basically applies to veiled chameleons as well. Since there seemed to be so many questions on this, I added this section first to my care page on my...
