Silk moths are adorable. Do you know they don’t even have mouths, because they don’t have any plan to eat? Their only purpose as a moth is to mate and die. Crazy!
Blu is amazing! What a distinguished gentleman :). Rick was telling me males in the wild get huge but these captive bred and raised Parsons don’t get anywhere near as large, and the females are smaller yet. I still expect her to be larger than a big panther but we shall see!
Yep, I got a male Ambilobe and a male Ambanja from Fram’s. Now I have picked up a 10 month old female yellow lipped Parsons from Rick Rose. She arrives next Wednesday. I called and spoke with Rick about care requirements. I then called and spoke with Bill Strand to order an atrium with...
Let me clarify. Juveniles can do a full body shed in a matter of hours. In those instances, I hold off on misting until they have fully shed. I do not mist the enclosure or the chameleon at all. I supplement with a dripper and hydrating bugs like silkworms.
My ambient room humidity is...
If my chameleons are actively shedding I don’t spray them directly with water. It seems to make their shed go faster and come off cleaner. But I give them hydrating bugs on shed days. It has worked for me. But I’m a hand sprayer and never use a mist system. I saw a few nasty turds get...
I saw this online and thought it has to be bogus, right? That’s clearly a mature orange-eyed Parsons male. For $750.00 at Texas Reptiles International. I messaged them to see if this is real.
I think you are referring to Rango’s casque. It does appear lighter than the rest of his body, but he may just be feeling nervous about being near you. You can expect him to become less tolerant of handling as he matures into an adult male. My guy never got aggressive but he was defensive...
Silas, that’s very admirable. I can tell you with 10 years of experience, I’m still learning. And no two chameleons are the same, even in the same morph and sex. We all want to help keepers avoid unnecessary cost and stress in raising these creatures. Monetizing it though is very...
This is Walter, a juvenile male Ambanja I got from Fram’s. He’s a sweetheart and now lives next to my juvenile male Ambilobe named Albert. Walt is already showing some stunning colors. Walt has a sweet and tolerant temperment. Albert is shy but total reckless abandon when it’s time to...
If your humidity in a basement is never lower than 65% you could be looking at mold issues. I’m not concerned for his respiratory issues but rather yours, because you live in that basement. Please consider investing in a good quality dehumidifier and keep it clean with regular light bleach...
No I actually passed on the female. I don’t want to be tempted to become a breeder. I wouldn’t want the stress of incubating, raising, and selling off little babies! Two is the best number for me
Meet my new male Ambanja, Walter. He arrived this morning and ate crickets within about 2 minutes of his arrival. Zero apprehension. He’s a love bug. Also appear to be starting a shed so here comes the confetti already lol
Hey everyone, yes I know we all can’t stand this chameleon kit BUT it’s half off and is great for a temporary enclosure during deep cleanings. I also use the medium reptibreeze enclosure for keeping grasshoppers. It comes with a heat lamp and uvb bulb which is just fine for feeder hoppers...
