Thanks guys! I do like Astro, but I'm not committed to it. So far nothing has hit me like "That's it!" quite yet.
I got him from Lance Lindgren (Lancecham). I highly recommend him if anybody is in the market. :)
More pictures of him are here...
The most common cham-safe plants are pothos, ficus, schefflera, and hibiscus. More than likely, the only plant you can easily find small enough for your current terrarium would be a hanging pothos. Ficus, schefflera, and hibiscus are popular choices for adult cham enclosures because most garden...
The compact bulbs are a subject of much debate. Many people (including myself) don't like them because: 1) They emit too much UVB in one small area and can cause eye problems, 2) They don't cover a broad area, so if your cham spends a lot of time on the other side of the enclosure he may not get...
Welcome to the forums. :)
Since chams live rarely come down to the bottom of their enclosures (if they do, it's usually a sign there's something wrong), they really don't need any substrate at all. All substrate does for a cham is create the unnecessary risk of impaction. Just use paper towels...
What are his basking and ambient temperatures? It could be that he's cold and searching for heat. Or it could just be that he likes to hang upside down. Some chams do. How old is he?
Try FL Chams (http://www.flchams.com/). I'm not sure if they have a location you can visit, but they breed beautiful chameleons and in-state shipping should be pretty cheap.
He could be a runt. I got a 3 month old a while back from a very reputable breeder, and he came in about that same size. I don't believe this particular breeder would have lied to me about the cham's age, so I am about 95% sure that my boy is a runt of his clutch and the breeder just didn't...
Thank you. I made sure the room was safe for him when I was setting up his free range the past few days. It's actually a large walk-in closet that I have pretty much dedicated to him. There's not much in there except empty shelves that he is currently climbing all over and a few closed boxes.
Haha yes, he was. And thank you. :)
Question for anybody who free ranges: I have heard that he is likely to wander around the room for the first few days he free ranges. Should I just leave him alone and let him do his thing? I'm a little worried because he hasn't eaten anything today and he...
I just got my third chameleon (first panther) today. :) He is a 5 month old ambilobe from Lance Lindgren. One of the pictures is the one Lance posted in his ad (the one that made me fall in love with my new little man), three are pictures I took this morning immediately after unboxing him, and...
Go for it. His username is Lancecham, and he actually just posted another ad in the classifieds. "Top pick of the clutch." (I personally think mine is the top pick of the clutch though.) :p
So I am getting my first panther tomorrow. He is a ~5 month old ambilobe from Lance Lindgren. I'm so excited... I have been looking at panthers for a while now, but when I saw this one in the classifieds I just had one of those "That's him... That's exactly what I want" moments. So I bought him...
I have two veileds and my first panther coming next week! :D
Not to mention a bearded dragon, an African clawed frog, two rats, and a cat who tries to torture them all. =P
You could do that, but you need to take them out anyway to dust them. You are dusting the crickets with calcium, right? If not, you need to get some immediately. I cannot stress the critical importance of calcium for growing baby reptiles enough. You need plain phosphorus-free calcium without D3...
