Is my chameleon not rly his supposed “age”?

He is absolutely beautiful! Since he is a male and it’s not critical to know his correct age as it is with a female for egg laying reasons, I wouldnt worry too much. One way you can tell is to start weighing him. They are pretty much full grown at age 1 year and that’s when you start tapering...

    Hemi injury from sperm plug?

Ok got up to this issue today. My 3 1/2 year old male veiled was hanging there trying to get to a cricket and I saw the first three pics. It looked like it possibly had a hard scab with dried blood on the tip. So I made him a warm soak, put on gloves toook him to the sink and he was battling me...

Weird bumps, not really using front arm

Your guy has multiple things going on and you definitely need vet intervention as he is on a downward spiral and may have been hiding it for quite a while to get to this point. I didn’t see pics of your setup. Is it bio? Make sure you take a good fecal sample with you to the vet. Use a baggie...

    Inappetant baby cham

Oh get a monstera plant. I get mine at Trader Joe’s believe it or not. Costs only 15 and they are always a good size. The stalks are strong even when shut it full grown they can take her weight. Don’t set it near the basking light as the leaves get burned but do put it in that area that’s gets...

    Inappetant baby cham

Hello and welcome. She is so tiny! How old is she? Three months? I have raised two from babies so I will make a few suggestions that may seem controversial. First, the size of feeders should be no longer then the space between her eyes, not casque. She should be on small crickets right now and...

    New friend

Dirt is ok as long as it’s just dirt. This is why I always sift the top two to three inches of soil on each plant. It allows straight dirt as top soil with no wood chips, stones, perlite, etc. I have been in the habit of replacing top soil in all my plants every spring so this was an easy step...

    Why’s my baby chameleon digging?

Yes I agree. My pathos is too big for any cage so I drape the long vines on sticks that I have secured across the windows. So it’s a real jungle gym. well I keep my boys basking spot about 6” down and 6-8” from the front door and right next to the left wall if you are looking at the cage. I...

Upgrading enclosure for my Panther Chameleon

I would go with one 36” uvb. Make sure the top third portion of the cage is a total jungle gym. It’s not easy filling all that space. Get a bunch of zip ties you will need them. I have seen the tee pee style with three heavier beaches all leaning inwards. I actually took a piece of drift wood...

    Chameleon Lifting Head When Sleeping

Chameleons will hide illness till they are half dead. If he was asleep and resting his whole head on something in an upward position, that’s normal. But if he was not resting his head on anything and keeping it upward, then RI is a possible cause. They will also open the mouth a bit while...

    EMERGENCY

Omg that is so serious. It must be injured. You are going to have to cancel that trip. So sorry. It must be very scary, but you can handle this. Please keep us informed. We don’t hear of this often and the few times I have heard a member reach out it was babies losing part of the tongue. Sending...

My chameleon eating from the soil

Strange. It could be something like cats do when they have an upset tummy they eat grass. If you don’t cover it, the sift the top two or three inches of all the soil so there is nothing in it to cause an impaction, like tiny rocks, wood chips, perlite etc. I do that with all my potted plants as...

    New friend

If he does have MBD, he will need liquid calcium right away. Let us know what the vet says and we will take it from there. If it is MBD, then he is a fall risk and there are things you can do to the cage to ease his fall if he does. I truly mean the best to you! You have a very beautiful...

    New friend

Well hello. I guess I will chime in on what this baby is. At first I said girl. The size and shape of the casque, didn’t really see spurs, but the coloring is more of a male. I would say 5 months old. At this age they do a full body molt in one day. With each molt, more and more colors will be...

    Why’s my baby chameleon digging?

Well that’s a great price on the plants. I suggest transplanting one into a hanging pot. That way you can rig it up higher. That is a big issue in the four foot cages. Too far from the light. Good luck with them. My problem is my apt doesn’t get much natural sun. So I have my other plants all...

    Why’s my baby chameleon digging?

Btw if you get some vinyl like a shower curtain liner and cut it to fit the back and one side panel then tape it to the frame on the outside, it will help keep water in the cage and help the humidity levels. I use vinyl that’s not clear so it gives him some privacy areas.

    Why’s my baby chameleon digging?

Hmm a sleep walking/digging chameleon?!? Now that’s a new one! But hey anything’s possible in life. I see everyone is responding about husbandry over hauls. That’s good cause he looks very healthy and we all want him to stay that way. The fake plants have to go and you need more vines. Order...

    Mold in the Soil?

Well I still sift my new top soil every year to get rid of all of the wood chips. My Cham will hunt in the soil for feeders from time to time so I am very cautious cause I know how strong that tongue is and don’t want to take any chances. It seems more and more soil is using filler debris that...
