    Opinions on my baby Panther?

The colour on this guy does make it difficult, but I would say male. At the base of the tail you can see the kind of 'empty ball sac' where his hemipenes will develop. A female would not taper the same way right at the cloaca, and have a deeper indent instead.

Why You Should Never Use Tap Water For Your Chameleon

I very strongly disagree, and as you say the much-too-common question, I find the sentiment you share as a much-too-common and inadequate answer. Which is exactly why I felt like posting this. It is much more sensible to assume the water is not safe. Simply based on the vast quantities of...

    Loss of Apetite?

I have had many chameleons refuse food for days, only to jump at the chance at a slug or snail, or moth, or stick insect. Switch it up and offer him some different food. They do get bored. Here's an article with a bit of information...

Why You Should Never Use Tap Water For Your Chameleon

I never really considered the effect of tap water on chameleons until I took a clutch of baby panthers to a reptile expo in Red Deer, Alberta...where the water is very hard. Within 24 hours, all 30 babies were showing swelling and edema. Our hotel sink, toilet, and shower were clogged with...

    June Bugs?

There are over 100,000 insect species in Madagascar. The biggest variety is beetles. June bugs are on the safe list and him eating a June bug is okay...in fact the grubs make great occasional treats as well (high fat). Of course, there are beetles that are toxic like the Blister Beetle so you...

    DIY rain attachment

This is how I make my rain chambers for tree frog breeding. Might I suggest using 4 'L' elbows to make a nice uniform square on the cage top instead of a circle. You could also use some 'T' connections to make a large outer square and a smaller inner square....though this is mostly for...

What Happened to the Reptile Hobby?!

The hard facts are the supply/demand dilemma. That, and.....the economic situation makes for an interesting combination. More people are becoming entrepreneurs to make an income for themselves because the traditional stock market/salary earning has proven to leave millions of people by the...

    Show me some proof!

Mass anecdotal evidence is often more reliable than 'expert' advice because it's based on many individual experiences instead of one persons research because they have a degree and some petri dishes....additionally, most 'experts' are peddling/endorsing a product with their name on it. Vitamin...

Accuracy of the "Kent vent" method of sexing baby Panthers

Better than the 'Rick ____ ' method. LOL I have had 100% accuracy checking for the little 'ball sack' as I call it & explain to my customers. Never been wrong. It's basically a little flap of skin waiting for some hemipenes to bulge out in (or lack thereof) and is quite obvious with some...

    Air purrifier?

I researched this as well. All you need is a cheap HEPA filter behind or in front of an area fan (those big square ones). They did some research at a University or something and found that the 5$ HEPA filters did just/almost as good as the $850 ones mentioned above.

There are a lot of factors for growth rates but I would say that is an accurate guess. I would say at least 3, at most 5.

Cham with four joints on each hind leg?

Sad. The fault is not your own. No breeder of any animal should let them go to new homes without a proper explanation of care and products required to keep a chameleon. Likewise, it is sickening how many breeders are in this only for profit and wholesale to petstores knowing their...

    365 Days of Naboo

Not to worry, I have held back a couple really tiny runts over the years and they all reach adult size in their own time. You just took Naboo early and put him in a big cage is all. I kept all his bros and sisters in a 12x12x18 all together for two months after you got Naboo. Smaller...

    Yemen vs veiled

Oh I thought you were joking LOL....... They are literally from Yemen, and their casque resembles a veil. Simple common names based on easy-to-remember features. It doesn't really matter what you call it aside from its Latin name. Kinda like how panther chameleons are also often called...
