Okay, thanks. I will do that. I am not sure how to get to it though . . . should I take out all of the egg crates and shake them out after I get the roaches off? Right now it's like finding a needle in a haystack. I guess I will wait and see if I find it in the next few days and if I don't, I...
I was feeding my cham this morning when I noticed a small spider in the roach bin. I tried to nab it, but it scurried under the egg crates. My roaches have been dying recently, could this be the reason why? I have no idea how a little spider could do so much damage, so that's probably not why...
I can understand that it looks like rainwater. You are right, it is a good idea and you should definitely try it, no matter how it works out. Sometimes that is what owning a chameleon is; trying new things that may not work out. Or trying things that will work out. Good luck! :)
Well, as I have read, fountains are discouraged because chameleons don't ever drink from water bodies in nature. If it works for you though, that's awesome. It's a great idea.
Yeah, that sounds like the kind of situation where I would give in and buy the cham. I definitely wouldn't want a kid that young to get a cham, especially with that reaction  Plus, after a while, the novelty wears off and then the kid won't want to take care of the cham or feed it anymore...
I have a pothos in my cage and then a big plastic plant with broad leaves as cover. As long as you have on real plant, you can buy a fake one. But it sounds like you don't have any real plants right now . . . ?
That is very true. I have seen the way my cham climbs leaves similar to bromeliad leaves, and her feet always struggle to find purchase. I have plenty of other plants in my enclosure for her to climb on, though. A chameleon's long nails prevent it from holding on to anything as thin as a leaf...
If you need help getting started on a quality laybin, you should check out this video.
Also, chameleons cannot be 'chubby' in their abdomen region. So if you see a chameleon that you think is 'chubby', then there is something else going on, such as eggs. Chameleons store their fat in their...
That is horrifying! And to think, people are actually buying these and taking them home. That poor cham, with nothing to hold onto. When I clean my cham's cage, I keep her in the cage because it makes her feel safer than being outside. Either way, if I were to take her out, she has 2 free range...
Well my cham isn't entirely what one would call 'good' . . . she is quite the mystery. I got her on February 2, 2016, and she still hasn't shown any mature colors. She eats and drinks like a champ and is real active, so I know she is healthy, but she has always been a runt. Or rather, a cham...
True that. Personally, I find that dubiaroaches.com has good supplies, way more than just dubias, though their dubia are great. Anyway, I agree with you in the sense that I wish I had found the forums before I bought my cham. I did plenty of research before, but I bought my cham from Petco...
Unfortunately, just guessing their age is not accurate. If he is doing all of his normal habits and such, I would say he is fine. Make sure he is always properly misted and that he never stops eating or drinking. Personally, I got my chameleon from a bad source and she turned out to be a bit of...
That unfortunately is another way chain pet stores make their money. Whether the stores mean to or not, people see the poor conditions of their animals and buy them out of pity, therefore supporting the business, and reinforcing the idea that treating their animals abysmally will not keep people...
I agree. This topic seems to have no valid argument for the side of Petco, yet they continue to neglect and mistreat their animals. I noticed that the Petco near me stopped carrying veiled chameleons. Though this seems good, they soon started carrying panther chameleons for over $230. Who would...
As long as he is eating/drinking as normal, without any stuck sheds, I think it is completely normal. Now that he has hit adulthood, the sheds lower in frequency and he probably won't shed his whole body any more. Does he have any white skin anywhere on his body right now?
