What a difference a few weeks makes. Chuck is growing SOOOO fast and eating more than I could have imagined. He is really starting to develop his colors and I think he is going to be a beautiful adult. It also looks like his markings are going to be more like his Ambilobe lineage than Sambava...
Growing like a weed and finally starting to show a little color. I am so excited to see what his colors develop into. Being a Sambava x Ambilobe cross, I am really not sure what to expect.
I got one of the Katchy's and have had it running non stop for the past ~48 hours. It has caught 100's of gnats, but the issue persists. I am hoping with a little more time it will improve. I am also trying out a bowl with apple cider vinegar, water, sugar, and dish soap. I don't know how...
I have had Chuck Norris for 3 weeks now and he is doing great. He has shed once, looks like he is about to shed again, and has easily doubled in size. He is still not showing any colors, but he is adorable anyway.
Thank you all for the suggestions. I have ordered the gadget that @Beman suggested. It will be here in a couple days and hopefully gets this under control.
Gnats, gnats, everywhere.
Gnats, gnats, in my hair!
Gnats , gnats, little flies,
Gnats, gnats, in my eyes!
Gnats flying in my mouth.
Gnats all over my house!
Gnats always on my brain,
Gnats driving me INSANE!!
Now that the rhyme is done, what can be done about all these gnats? They are coming...
I had a veiled years ago, that would literally jump on my hand and bite as hard as he could if my hand went into his cage AT ALL!! I finally had to wear thick welding gloves to even clean his cage. I had to use the gloves to get him out for vet visits as well. I would just gently coax...
Can't help with a name, But she looks WAY too big to be 2 months. I am no Veiled expert though. Maybe @Beman @jannb or @MissSkittles can chime in on that.
Distilled is fine. You are giving your cham all the minerals they need in their food and supplements. I use only RO/DI with a TDS of 0 (the purest water you can get) and have no issues.
Perhaps not "cheap", but the best option I could find for my XL Reptibreeze is the Dragon Strand Drainage tray. You would need to drill holes in the floor of the enclosure to allow the water to drain into the tray. I actually used a window screen kit and made a screen floor for my enclosure...
Well Chuck seems to be settling in well. He was constantly climbing the screen for the first day or so, but I have not seem him on the screen for the last 2 days now. He seems to be sticking to the branches and plants. It is difficult to tell how much he is eating. I have seen him eat several...
Thank you all for the comments. I too believe he is about 3 months. He is about the same size as my previous panther was when I got him years ago. I look forward to watching his progress and seeing how his colors develop.
I made the trip to pick up my new cham, Chuck Norris, today. It was a long day, roughly 8 hours round trip, but Chuck is now in his new home and doing well. He has already hunted and eaten several rickes and I have even seen him drink. The only thing that I don't like so far is that he won't...
I would ditch the night light!. Your cham doesn't need any extra heat at night unless temps get below about 60 (I doubt you let your house get that cold). Agree with @AmandaS that Manzanita branches are great! They create lots of little paths for our chams to use. I have 6 manzanita branches and...
Is the herptivite so bad that it needs to be tossed? It is BRAND new, never even opened. I hate to just toss it out! I have the Reptivite w/o D3 on order.
