Auto Mister for Mesh Enclosure (No Drilling?)

RO systems do not have to be large or expensive, and can even just be hooked up to a faucet or hose bib with simple (inexpensive) adapters. For those in need of an inexpensive RO system, take a serious look at this. It will take a couple of hours to make 5 gallons, but is inexpensive, and...

    Chuck Norris finally made it!!

Things are going great with Chuck!! He finally trusts me enough, to willingly, even excitedly, climb onto my hand when I put it near him. So, naturally, I took him outside for some sun today. When opening his cage to put him back in, he caught a glimpse of Bruce and started head bobbing and...

    Let the battle begin!

This is not a great pic, but I was able to get 1 decent one today. Bruce is still TERRIFIED of me. If I even open his cage, he runs and hides the best he can. I feel like it is going to be a VERY long process to earn his trust. Anyway, here is the pic.

    Fired Up Fridays

Chuck kind of fired up today when he got a glimpse of my 4 month Ambilobe, Bruce. This is the most fired up I have ever seen him, he is a super chill dude!

    Always dark??

For the most part your husbandry looks pretty good. It looks like you have some live plants in there., which is great. Continue to try and remove the rest of the fake plants and those mossy vines. They can also be an impaction risk. The homemade cage looks good, but be aware that it is too small...

    Always dark??

I would also stop misting every 2 hours for only 15 seconds. Chameleons need longer to recognize the misting as a source of droplets for drinking, AND you want the cage to dry out between mistings. I would suggest misting in the morning, right at lights on for 3-5 minutes, then again just before...

Hank and Emma Babies Will Be Hatching Soon

I hate that I am considering a possible third cham about late Aug-Sept. :) I already have an extra Reptibreeze XL I could use.

Hank and Emma Babies Will Be Hatching Soon

I'm in AZ, so 6 months would be perfect timing here.

    Male or female ambilobe

I have to disagree with most of the above posts and say it is a female. The base of the tail looks too thin to me. If it was a male, the tail would be thicker at the base and taper to a point. Your chams tail is skinny at the base with almost no taper, instead the base is virtually the same...

Nosy Faly - Male or Female?

I am sticking to my original statement! I think you have a handsome male.

Nosy Faly - Male or Female?

I am certainly no expert at sexing baby panthers, but due to the tail being quite a bit wider at the base and tapering, I would say male. Hopefully someone else will confirm or disprove me. :)

    Let the battle begin!

Well, I was able to get a couple pics tonight. He is making a bit of a funny face because he had just snagged a cricket but wouldn't chew because I was watching.

    Let the battle begin!

I could come up with lots of martial arts names for chameleons, IF I had the space to house them all. David Carradine Jean Claude Van Dam Jet Li Steven Segal Donnie Yen Scott Atkins Jason Statham Sammo Hung Rick Yune You get the idea!! :)

Zero water filter... Need feedback from smart people :)

yes, 9ppm is good. In order to get it any lower, you would have to run that water through DI resin, but it is not worth it for what you want, IMO. 9ppm is VERY clean water with almost ZERO dissolved solids to gum up your pump or nozzles.

    What’s up with Jack?

How old is Jack? IME, chameleons will start to actively seek out a mate once they mature (8-12 months). This usually doesn't last too long before they go back to their normal activity level. Patrolling their enclosure each day (often several times a day). My guy, Chuck, roams his enclosure...

    Let the battle begin!

Good morning all!! Bruce has been with me for almost 2 weeks now and he is doing great!. He just had his first shed with me the other day and is developing nicely. I will say that he is the feistiest little panther I have ever had. All of my previous panthers, including Chuck, have tolerated me...

Zero water filter... Need feedback from smart people :)

The issue here is not whether unfiltered (plain) water is ok for the cham or not. The issue is that unfiltered water (and a lot of filtered water) has a lot of minerals and stuff in it that will quickly clog the misting nozzles. Using RO or distilled water, will eliminate the need to regularly...

Zero water filter... Need feedback from smart people :)

Arizona water, in general, is pretty terrible. I am not sure about the water in Flagstaff, but in the Phoenix area and southern Arizona, it is not even advised to drink it. I often see my water have 700+ TDS out of the tap (south of Phoenix), which is why I have an dedicated RO system under the...

Zero water filter... Need feedback from smart people :)

You are correct, it does not say that it removes calcium specifically, but then neither does my RODI system. What it does claim, is that it will remove up to 98% of total dissolved solids (TDS), of which Calcium is one. That means that even if you start with pretty terrible water @ 500TDS, after...
