    Welcome home, Werner's Chameleon!

Oh man! I had no clue that light was so hot. I found this http://www.reptileuvinfo.com/html/watts-heat-lights-lamp-heat-output.html the same kind of light I had gets very hot... Much too hot for my little guy. After ten minutes, it's at 140 degrees farenheit! Insane. I guess...

    Welcome home, Werner's Chameleon!

Thanks for the help so far Laurie! I suppose I will replace his light with something with less wattage! I really do NOT want to cook my new chameleon... Everything I have read so far said 80-85 degrees so that's what I assumed was correct. Even your adults are 70 degrees? Seems a bit low, but...

    Live perches

I don't like baking them because it makes the house smell like burnt wood for days though. :p Honestly cleaning them is a fine way to go.

    HELP!! Adopt my sick chameleon!?!

Now I understand where you are coming from. I am familiar with your point of view and experiences -- with the cham being grumpy and all. At this point, you know she may have URI. Just scoop her up and put her in a small box with a towel in it, close the box, and take her to the vet. Don't...

You are welcome :) just keep an eye on the cham.

New 4 month old veiled mouth gaping

Salt deposit is normal, don't worry about that. Unless there is a LARGE amount of salt, it doesn't really matter. If there are no bubbles, he is not making noise or wheezing, he is probably just stretching out his chin for shedding :) just watch on him and listen for any unusual noises . If...

    Live perches

I've been using the same sticks from outside since around two years, they haven't shown any signs of wear or rot so far. I mist quite often and the humidity was quite high a lot of the time. Really, if you want sticks from the outside, all you have to do is wash them, but if you're being...

    HELP!! Adopt my sick chameleon!?!

Again, not trying to be crude or mean to you, but the vet bills for this type of situation are usually cheap, and a URI is very treatable and very preventable in the future. Please, from all of us, don't just give up on your little cham.

New 4 month old veiled mouth gaping

Maybe he might be starting to shed, and is attempting to loosen the skin he will be shedding. Mine did that when he was about to shed, he'd open his mouth and yawn and gape so the skin would come loose. But, if he seems to be staying still with his head pointed up, mouth open, bubbling out of...

    Welcome home, Werner's Chameleon!

You said you'd be watching for a photo shoot? He is very docile, and acts just like my old Jackson's. He's so cute. Just like Brave (the jackson's) he takes FOREVER to eat dubias. He sits there with them in his mouth and slowly chews! T. Werneri by 1891Holmes, on Flickr

    Welcome home, Werner's Chameleon!

I should check his posts out then! I put a dubia on a branch for him, hopefully he eats that too. He seems a little more timid now, clinging to a branch. I wish he'd explore some more :)

    Welcome home, Werner's Chameleon!

Thanks! I am using this https://www.chameleonforums.com/werners-chameleons-8975/ and this https://www.chameleonforums.com/care/caresheets/jacksons/ to care for him. Finding info on these guys is hard.

    Welcome home, Werner's Chameleon!

Found this guy at Amazon Reptile for 65$. He was CB, as they told me, at least. I love my new precious baby. I am glad to be the owner of my new Werner's. That was the first time I've ever seen one in real life! As of now I am caring for him like I would a Jackson's Chameleon, since he is...

    HELP!! Adopt my sick chameleon!?!

I am trying to be as sensitive as possible here, but are you just going to give a sick chameleon to someone else to avoid paying the vet bills? If she truly has URI a vet visit and some meds will do her well. If she is sick enough to be "suffering" you should not be trying to get someone else...

Plz hlp soon, Chameleon vomited, now has breathing problems

If she is holding her head up, maybe gasping/yawning, and bubbling, I would say URI.

    Thoughts on a corner cage

Sounds fine. I would make a cage on wheels that fits in the corner so you can still get around it or move it. :)

    Recovery and now decline

Thank you again everyone. Yes it has been hard for me. I think today is one of the first days I have avoided breaking down over the thought of him.
