Thank you, "Q". They are cool little tykes. I hope they can survive. Don't see them eating anything yet. I mean at just an inch total length, I can't imagine they have much of a tongue to catch anything!
For these C. nasutum, this small Zoo Med vivarium with a bioactive substrate, live plants, lots of twigs and both UBV and plant lighting (no heat basking lamp) seems to be working pretty well. I've been feeding hydei and melanogaster FF and small crickets gutloaded and occasionally dusted. The...
Zoo med 12x12x18 glass vivarium, Screen top and bioactive soil and live plants and ample branches and twigs for climbing.
So far has worked great. Where are you located? I'd be interested to know what store has this species. Thanks.
Thank you very much, Michelle. And yes they are separated. I've been supplying them with frequent brief mistings and lots of H. melanogaster, but have not observed any feeding as of yet. We'll see how it goes - they sure are tiny - ~ 1" total length!
I have been wondering if my female C. nasutum was gravid before import, or had been mated by my male either during their initial quarantine (when they were together) or during one of the times I introduced them together. I never observed an actual mating so had my doubts.
Today, ~8 months...
Well, upon closer observation this evening, I’ve noticed the male has some health issues.
The rep at LLL made the assurance that only healthy animals would be sent, after I requested they please not sell me injured or visibly unwell animals. This is the second order (out of two) from them in...
If you google “chameleon breeders podcast” and search for the Furcifer lateralis (Carpet Chameleon) episode 14 and the Carpet Chameleon Roundtable episode 84, you will hear some comments from those who probably have the most experience with F. campani in the US to the effect that F. campani are...
Yes from LLL. I went ahead and placed the order, and so far so good. We'll see how they hold up. Both male and female are feeding. The male really is quite sedentary (or lethargic) so far. I hear that this species may not be as active as others, certainly less so than K. boehmei.
Thanks, Jeremy - I'll post some more for documentation. This male is not very colorful, but it is interesting to see what is being imported most likely from a farm in Kenya? I'm not seeing any real lookers documented anywhere as far as what is coming in, so I wonder if what I have are the...
A few more pics...male? is not the most colorful form - hopefully it will brighten up some. Even if it stays the same tannish color - still a very cool species!
Female? - interesting color change..
