no to ferns
No, you should not let your animal eat ferns of any kind. One feeding will probably not hurt much, but continual feeding can result in kidney and liver damage.
Keep your animals away from true ferns. Asparagus "ferns" are OK.
um... light
Sorry, but that is a problem with living north of the 47th parallel. You need supplemental light, especially for hibiscus, after equinox.
Four 48" tubes on for 12.5 hrs a day should work. They need to be close to the tops of the plants - within 6".
Best of luck; its going to...
new bible
Mine just came today; I can't put it down and very little work is getting done. I have to think this volume will stand for many years as the bible on African sp.
I' just stunned by the depth of the work and the range of experience Dr. Tilbury has had. He's my new hero.
Does...
ZZ Plant
Here is the results for a search on your plant, Zamioculcas (correct spelling)
I have researched the plant and can not find any cases of animal poisonings in the literature. It is, however in the Aroid family, and it is very likely to have high levels of oxalic acid crystals...
agreed
I also have had good experiences with B & H. I bought mine from Robert's in INdiana, FWIW, they had a better price at the time. Most of my lenses have come from B & H.
I bet you'll be blown away by the 5D II. Enjoy.
gon, gone, gone
Frozen. As in 32 deg. F.
The eggs were caved in on one side, so I assume there was some serious dehydration as well. The eggs were thrown away.

There is in several references, confusion...
not
JUST. PLAIN. FALSE.
Find a citation of a case of poisoning, or retract. _ Codiaeum variegatum_ is only known to cause a contact dermatitis (a rash) in a small sub-set of individuals who are reactive.
Some people are reactive to Fava beans too. Does not make them poisonous.
safe, at the plate...
Crotons are safe. In many countries the leaves are eaten as a vegetable.
The search funtion here is very useful: search for croton and you will find the question has been asked and answered. If one searches a database one won't find any poisoning cases in the...
gratitude
Thanks for your words in support, Everyone. Chris and Luis, thanks for those suggestions; will get multiple units and test first. Looks like it will be ThinkGeek for me.
For what its worth, the incubator was keeping fairily constant, until it froze everything on Saturday...
My three clutches of quad eggs were frozen by the incubator over the weekend. I'm really wrecked.
For the record it was a "Repti Pro 5000", bought from the company via ebay in June.
Anyone have a good suggestion for an incubator that heats, cools, and doesn't fail in 3 months?
Agave, but not the tequila one
Hey Syn,
its an Agave, but not the tequila one. I'm not sure which species, but I'll do some research and see if I can narrow it down for you.
Cheers,
Dave
