    2018 Chameleon Calendar

So PUMPED for the new calendar to come out! I absolutely STINK at photography, so I'll never see my handsome boy on its pages, but I still get so excited when it comes in the mail. ;)

How do you guys feed roaches???

You could try some green banana roaches from Nick Barta. Very brightly colored. I had similar issues with my Panther not eating roaches and, after living in NYC for 20 years, I refuse to physically touch the things! The first, and ONLY time, I ever ordered them, I nearly had a heart attack...

    Pixel the sleeping acrobat!

PS. Before you flame me, this only happens about once in 6-8 months, in terms of me having to wake him and put him back. Also! He was previously free-ranged, so I let him out a lot. He has a few different places around our house, where we've made a climbing spot for him to look out the...

    Pixel the sleeping acrobat!

Just had to share...... My Panther Cham is extremely mellow and tame (thanks, Chamtopia!), and bumps his nose on his door to be let out, just about every day. He has trees, drapes and various other things to climb, in my bedroom. Once in a while, Pixel falls asleep before I have a chance to...

Back from Zambia with a question!

I'm curious to know if you've heard this factoid about the trees from which giraffes eat; Our guide told us the trees begin to emit a toxic or bad tasting substance, that causes the giraffe to move on. This occurs after about 10 min of eating from a tree. He said giraffes have to move every 10...

Where's the best place to get a Chameleon?

Before buying my first cham, I read all the cautions and warnings on this forum. I ignored them, bought a wild caught to save $, and lost her 1 month later. I was heartbroken. I realized I should have listened to everyone's advice. I then did a lot more research and, after speaking to a...

Back from Zambia with a question!

I couldn't agree more! When we first entered the Safari reserve, there was a big herd of african buffalo coming towards us, and it seems so strange. Then, as we encountered giraffe, elephant, antelope, etc.., it just seemed out of place. As grateful as I am to zoo experiences in childhood...

Back from Zambia with a question!

I agree with you 100%! Their faces are so perfectly designed, they almost look like masks. But! When you hear the sounds they make, and see them lock their eyes on something far away and freeze..... Oh they are VERY real! Lol! Right before they took them out, the handler said, " they run at...

Back from Zambia with a question!

Many years ago, I had the privilege of holding & petting a baby lion cub. The cheetahs really buried that experience. (y) Posting a new pic to show they are real. LOL! These are my daughters. The one with his mouth open was yawning and I just caught it in time. I thought my youngest was...

Back from Zambia with a question!

I have to say; As amazing as the cheetah experience was, thats not why we were in Zambia. We went, as a family, to attend Camp Life. It's a summer camp for the orphans who live in the slums of Lusaka. THAT was a life changer! (y)

Wow! Cool story about your turtle! Thank you so much for the info. It's just amazing that any of them survive the dry season because it's really dry! LOL!

Back from Zambia with a question!

LOL!. It's called Chaminuka. A small 1-day type of safari. We drove all around the reserve in a safari vehicle. The cheetah encounter was an extra thing you choose to do. The cheetahs were raised from birth by humans. They live in a large enclosure and come out 2-4 times per day. You walk...

Back from Zambia with a question!

OK. I looked up the word. Do they actually stop eating and drinking? Do they just go to sleep? We were told it absolutely will not rain in the dry season. It makes me wonder about last year. They had one of the worst droughts during rainy season. I'm thinking it killed off a lot of chameleons.

Back from Zambia with a question!

Jajean, can you elaborate on this? I really want to know how they cope in the dry season. Our friends, who live in Zambia, say they usually see chams walking on the side of the road. We saw none while we were there.
