    Globifer news!

The rarest captive bred chameleon in the US? Here’s a baby Calumma globifer I hatched out 9/28/22. This is the culmination of a Globifer project I’ve had going on for 6 years. This was not an easy thing to accomplish. These chameleons are rarely seen in captivity as there is no export quota...

Longevity in Calumma parsonii...and other information...

I helped write that paper. Parson’s can live a good long time in captivity if conditions are right. Seems like the older ones I’ve heard of have lived mainly outdoors or at least had some good exposure to the outdoors.

    Sherman the Yellow Giant

OE have been the most common for years. They have been produced probably at least 10 times. Yellow lips are far less common and as far as I know they have only been produced 3 times in the US, at least that I know of. Yellow Giants have gained a lot of popularity in the last couple years and it...

    Sherman the Yellow Giant

Interesting thing is when I first put him outside he was very dark. That went on for about 3-4 weeks but he slowly got more comfortable and now this is his normal coloration. When I was first offered him the picture I received was not flattering. He looked dark and rough from importation. I...

    Sherman the Yellow Giant

I would hope there will be several people breeding them by then. So many people have YG’s now and some have multiple adult pairs. It’s funny, when I first got them people weren’t really interested in them, now they seem to be all the rage. Perhaps the YL’s will make a come back now..

    Sherman the Yellow Giant

He’s long for sure. I have a couple other males that are similar in length, over 24”. This guy doesn’t have the girth but I think with that big head of his, he will fill out some more.

    Longevity in Furcifer oustaleti

They are such cool chameleons. Seems like they could live quite a while. I don’t know if they live as long as Calumma species especially the ones that brumate.

    Sherman the Yellow Giant

Yeah he has amazing coloration. I think he’s about 27” long.

Chameleon Hydration and a Drinking Glass....?

Well chameleons do drink standing water and chameleons do go to the forest floor and walk on the ground. How do I know? I’ve heard about chameleons drinking standing water several times from different guides when I was on one of my trips to Madagascar and I’ve seen chameleons walking on the...

    Sick / spasm with video

I’ve seen parson’s act that way when they are ill. I totally know what you are talking about. I recently had a female that had RI and she was doing the same kind of thing where it seemed like she was going blind. Once I switched from Ceftazidime to Baytril she snapped out of it quickly. I...

I would recommend not having any heat lamps on your Parsons and you definitely don’t want the fogger and a heat lamp like that on at the same time. It looks like that one cage is almost completely covered with plastic. You need air flow! I would have a fan in the room circulating air. I will...
