He hasn't really gone for his food, I'm not sure he's eaten any of his crickets. I think the problem is how large his cage is. It's a free range and he has about 4x2x3ft to climb around in, it's huge (It's a big PVC structure with vines and stuff in between). He spends most of his time in his...
I have a Jackson's chameleon coming in the mail tomorrow, he was just shipped. I've built his cage and setup water (I have a cham fountain, a mister, and a pressure water thing to spray the trees, I also have a terrarium for tropical plants that could be used as a hydration chamber if he is...
You're right, and while I've never really looked at their enclosure, I'm sure it's not the best. My local pet smart however, has good quality, I'll probably go with them. I can get various sizes with them too, plus hornworms.
My new Jacksons Chameleon from Underground Reptiles (I did a lot of research on them, most of their bad reviews were for incredibly stupid reasons, such as wanting a refund 6 months later, they had a ton of good reviews too, most sites gave them 4.5 stars) is coming tomorrow, I've got to get...
Thanks, I spent a long time on it and many trips to Lower for that PVC. That's a great idea, I've actually got a pothos up there, when he gets bigger he should do part of that. I have a basking area for heat, a branch under his heat light (about 7-9 inches away). The lights in the hanging...
Ok to be totally honest, I forgot completely about the fact that JC's can't be kept in pairs. I even read a whole thing about it. I guess I got caught up in the idea of it, guess I'll just order one male. Here are pics of the free range, I haven't added my fountain, mister, or feeders yet, but I...
Yeah I'll probably do this too, maybe even start with this. Afterall, it's my room, I can probably feed him some in the morning, another feeding at 4:00, and maybe some before his bedtime. I've decided on going with a male and a female and will buy them in a few days. I'm using Underground Reptiles.
I'll probably utilize feeding towers, though unlike the videos I've seen of them on youtube, I'll be using PVC instead of an empty orange juice carton ha ha ha, I'm thinking mine may work a bit better.
Here's the free range (Model 1, I wish I had done a few things different with the base and top) (I still have to add a PVC mount for his water fountain and two food towers (a method I've seen in other free ranges that I'm going to attempt to solidify with PVC rather than empty juice boxes with...
I cut down a ton of vines today, they're very stable and I think they are trumpet vines, so safe too. I'm going to use zip ties to attach them to the setup, they are perfect for any size lizard.
What achieves the best result in feeding free range chameleons, I have been making my free range (it's huge btw, 4x2x7ft, so I have the room for some pretty large feeding ideas). Info about the setup:
- material - PVC
- size - 4 ft length x 2 ft width x 7 ft height
- budget for feeding -...
I have all the PVC (I may purchase another cross beam for stability tomorrow, but maybe not). All that's left is branches (I'll probably use some local dogwood), vines (petsmart), and some type of grate to act as a table
I have a UVB bulb positioned at an angle so as to cover about 24inches of a vine, he will have lots of exposure. PVC's so smooth he'll never be able to get a grip, plus, with the 1 inch diameter, even an adult chameleon would have trouble getting his feet around it (a circumference of 3.14...
Well I have the drainage pan, I've purchased almost all of the PVC now, I had unexpected problems with the weight of the table grate (which i still haven't found ha ha ha), so I'm redesigning the base of the thing, switching to 2in PVC for stability
I still haven't found a drainage thing. I need a 4x2 thing to catch any water. I'm trying to spend under $40. I have all plants, all bulbs, a fountain, a vine (I want a few more), and almost all the PVC I need. It's so close to finished and I can't find this one piece.
Got in all my plants today, I'm also planning to move my tropical plants to his enclosure. I'm going to lowes today to pick up some modifcation PVC (I want to add a ledge so I can place all my plants somewhere) and hopefully a drainage system. I'll post pics later
Can anyone think of a (reasonable priced around $50) drainage system for a 4x2ft free range. I wanted it to be giant, but I think I'll probably have to downgrade to a 2x2.
