Him falling is concerning.. did you see the entire event happen? Maybe he jumped since the enclosure is new or lost his footing.. I've seen my panther do it while hanging on a plant outside to get down. His appetite may have slowed down, they usually do around a year old. My two year old eats...
My panther loves butterflies and moths, just make sure you are 100% certain they are not toxic! I also collect grasshoppers from my in-laws organic garden. Those are definitely popular with my panther as well.
I don't raise grasshoppers here (North Carolina) but during the spring and summer months I collect dozens from my in-laws' organic garden in the middle of Tennessee mountain country.
I can say without a doubt they are my panther's favorite feeder and he will snipe every one I release into his...
Your enclosure needs some work. The basking spot is way to low for her to properly bask and receive uvb. She needs more foilage and horizontal sticks/branches to thermoregulate.
Both light and dark shades can be indications of stress. If you just got him, leave him be for at least two weeks to settle. His colors should 'relax' eventually.
Short answer, no; a humidifier will not suffice as a misting system. MistKing is regarded as one of the best but there are cheaper alternatives (I think Climist has good reviews). A cheaper way would be using a dripper and hand mist together but most of us aren't around 24/7 to keep up with it...
It's been about a month and half since posting in this thread so time for another picture update! We're definitely not excited about the 3-8 inches of snow coming tonight.. so ready for spring!
Your husbandry could use a few changes. First, at that age he should be eating 10+ every day. Mealworms are not recommended, try superworms instead. Second, your gutload can be improved. The Flukers is garbage so return it if you can. Use fresh veggies and fruits instead and/or cricket crack...
With my panther, I tried superworms for several weeks and he finally snagged one and now they are his 'treat'. It took him almost a YEAR to take hornworms and even still he'll only eat a few a week. As long as he eats crickets and they're gutloaded, you shouldn't have too much to worry about.
