    Hawk moths

Hello. Well the season for hawk moths is June to October. As long as they are alive they have a chance to hatch but not in winter. Don’t worry many of them make it till spring and hatch early. As long as a male and female hatch, you can get eggs. This past season was my best season yet. My big...

Some of you guessed it, officially diagnosed with gout

Instead of going from the front of the mouth, pry it open and move the syringe to the side facing the back before you shoot it in.

Some of you guessed it, officially diagnosed with gout

Call the vet on that. It should be listed on the med. It may be based on her weight so what is prescribed for one may be different for another. An assistant can look in the chart easy enough.

New to the Chameleon community, First post!

Hello and welcome David. So glad you found your way here. First, the size cage you get is important do you don’t have to upgrade. 2’x2’x4’. Get a 24” uvb light. I use reptisun cause they usually have a nice deal on the hood with a 22” bulb that is the right kind. A linear uvb bulb is a must...

A new species of chameleon (Sauria: Chamaeleonidae: Nadzikambia) from Mount Mabu, central Mozambique…

When I first got into chameleons there were 174 known species. Last I heard there is 205 plus 38 subspecies. To me that means they are successfully cross breeding. Everyone said my female panther and male veiled could not breed. Usually the animals instinct fully know what they can breed with...

Veiled going to bed too early

Well you need to take into account the changes to sunrise and sunset during the winter. I keep an eye on my boy then adjust my timers to him. Currently 7am to 7pm. You see they don’t care about our clocks. They stay in tune with the sun. So I wouldn’t worry just adjust your timers. Then in the...

    December baby Lateralis

Especially when they are little and everything is new to them! Your little goober has had a head start on the other one so you will have to make sure the other one gets enough food. I am not sure how long you can keep the siblings together before they need their own cage. Probably about six...

    New Member

Congratulations on the new addition to your family! What is your boys name and how old is he? With each shed, his markings and coloring may change do it’s an exciting time! Chams are dry shedders and usually do not need any help. However, if there is stuck shed at the tip of the tail or around...

What is necessary on a background?

Like Miss Skittles I tape the vinyl to the outside of the frame on the back and one side. I use fireproof vinyl movie posters that you can’t get on the market. I also put one under the cage covering the whole table with up turned edges on the back and sides to catch any water. Works great! The...

    Plant recommendations-

Well there are also different kinds of money trees too. Here’s mine that I have had planted in a pot outside for over thirty years. Couldn’t really get it all in the pic but it goes up to the second story windows. Also after twenty years it started giving me seed pods and here are a few I grew...

My chameleon keep one eye closed

You got a cutie there! I think Bemans give is spot on about misting the whole cage. Your boys eyelids have pronounced openings which will lead too molting the entire eye at once impossible. This will be a repeat issue if you don’t figure it out. He closes his eye because it’s very hard to keep...
