Yes it is very common with Panthers to do this. They seem to be less susceptible to over supplementation. It still requires caution and constant observation to make sure nothing gets out of balance.
The bulb strength either 5.0 or 10.0 should be printed on the bulb. You probably have the 5.0 so basking branch should be 8 inches below the bulb as Beman said.
I do want to clarify that using LoD every feeding with an adult male panther that eats a couple bugs every other day is very different from a juvenile that eats a dozen feeders every day. For juveniles during the first year I had success with the Arcadia schedule and LoD once or twice per week.
They always say use a glass so the chameleon can drink as much as they want... Why can't they drink as much mist and dripper water as they want? Complete lack of logic. Also I would hate to see someone try their methods on a Parsons or more advanced species and see how wrong they really are.
Omg not these clowns again... This comes up every other month. I'm banned from the sub Reddit. No point in arguing with them just try to get their users to come here. The anti misting faction smh
Check out the chameleon academy planter box design for outdoor cages. Also the wild prey is somewhat debated but there is no evidence or single examples documented that observed any negative effects. I feed as much wild prey as I can find and have done so for years.
I would be much more...
Smaller than average adult size, very short tail to to body ratio, issues with hemipenes/hemipenal prolapse have been observed in individuals from different clutches.
Hello,
You said he came from kammerflage... Do you know the lineage? I have seen several of their nosy bes including mine with genetic defects from line breeding. Specifically chameleons with the sire Daru are demonstrating defects.
The cage is filling in. I can't believe it is already July! It has been so hot already that cryo has had to come in occasionally. I also have increased misting to every two hours on days in the 90s.
Hello, welcome and thanks for seeking help. Yes he has MBD and possibly the other health issues you described. Unfortunately a vet would be required at this point. You can look at chameleon academy for fixes to his husbandry but without a vet he will continue to decline in health.
Thanks! I will try a battery change. Any other solar meter users try comparing the weather forecast to the actual reading? I'm wondering if the weather service measures differently?
Hello, anyone know if you can calibrate a solar meter? My meter consistently reads much lower UVI than the weather forecast in my area. I know atmospheric conditions come into play but I'm measuring in direct sun at mid day... If the weather forecast says UVI 9 my meter reads no more than 5...
