@kinyonga Ophelia laid a week ago, she hasn't pooped yet (that I have seen). I put her in a humidity shower (mostly humidity from a warm shower, some light spray).
These are colors/patterns I haven't seen on her before ... did I stress her out?
After her first lay in May (see what I did there? Lol), she has had beautiful, bright green patterns. Then the color I posted recently was a dramatic change... apparently it meant : I'm ready - and going - to lay again right now!
Guess what she did? Laid a 29 egg clutch (down from 54-56) over night Saturday. I waited a full day before digging them up, to make sure she was done.
If anyone remembers our last (and her first) time around, this is a very different story. I expected a similar routine from her, but this time...

I would take the shell off. When I put a cantaloupe rind in there, they eat everything but the outer/exterior of the rind. So I doubt mine would eat hard shell. But this is just a guess lol haven't tried it personally.
Yeah... I live in SoCal. I have a filtration system on the entire house. I don't have the white residue on the screen BUT my monsoon rainfall system quit on me. It was second-hand so who knows. I got 6 months out of it. I'm going to try soaking the parts I can in vinegar and cross my fingers.

I don't know about infestations. I've never worried about it much (but now, maybe I should be more careful lol) - things are pretty lax at my house (I have kids and they are the messy...
