If I remember correctly, didn't you just get this enclosure? It's totally possible he is just a bit stressed from the move/new home and will relax with some time and getting used to the new setup.
I would say that those temps shouldn't be an issue. I have seen mine do this before a shed, and sometimes just because they are not happy that I cleaned out the food cup in their enclosure.
As I said before, there can be many reasons.
Depending on the situation, absolutely.
More specifically, panthers use their color, and color intensity, for many reasons: Communication and thermoregulation being the most commonly discussed.
I would not worry unless he stays dark/muted for some time or he shows other signs of stress or...
Not sure if you have a source already, but one of the vendors here on the site, calcigrubs.com, has great prices and free shipping. I just got some from there and am happy.
If your heat lamp is hot enough to burn ANYTHING in or on your cage, it's got to be too hot for your cham!
Not making assumptions though, so I have to ask: "Is your basking lamp sitting right on top of your screen enclosure? What type and wattage is the bulb? What are you using to measure...
The larger size is a better option, especially for a veil. In their natural environment, males can stake out a territory in the neighborhood of 20 square feet or more with favorite basking and hunting spots, so it's always better for them to provide the most space we can, and the adult size of...
Wow, that must totally suck. I never even considered that as a possibility. I guess some no-see-um screen on the inside of the vent housing might do the trick, if you can find someone to get up there and install it properly, or if you are I DIY'er.
I don't think I would keep sundews inside the enclosure. And in my experience, gnats/fruitflies can pass in and out of most screen enclosures. Not sure about those that use the glass or plexi enclosures though. Maybe you could make a safe housing for them with an inverted Tupperware container...
This issue comes up a lot, and I always tell people not to be concerned unless it goes on for quite a while and/or there are other signs of stress or illness. Remember that bright colors are a way that chams communicate stress, dominance, and breeding availability. Dull colors can be due to a...
Just remember that chameleons can store sperm for 2 or 3 clutches, so taking a break every other clutch just means you may be discarding viable eggs.
Not trying to insult, just giving you a "Head's Up!". I agree totally about the effects of back to back, rapid clutches on females. It can...
Maybe I read this wrong, but if you are getting water from your sink (tap water) you may have some issues with your mistking down the road, not to mention that most tap water is barely potable for humans these days, let alone Chameleons.
I freely admit that I could be reading that wrong, or you...
You were visited by Crickzilla!?!
"Oh no, he ate my Ambilobe, no no Crickzilla! Yeah-ah-ah-ahhhhh" - Most definitely not by Blue Oyster Cult.
To the tune of this...
Yeah, I'm way off topic...again...Sorry! I also have no issue with crickets harming my Chams. I have one female that crawls into...
It's hard not to want every color and form variation, even though it's so important to give each their individual requirements.
It's the same reason I never have killifish:
I know myself, and I would end up with tanks and plastic shoeboxes of eggs on every flat surface of my house, driving all...
I posted before I saw Tony S's post. For safety, I would stick with the normal, safe practices of found land snails, then only collected eggs in a clean container method. There should be plenty in Penn.
Try here and see if this is helpful.
This is for my test of aquatic snails only!
I am...
Without measuring your light and uv output with a solarmeter, I can't give you an accurate answer on that one. For me, the basking light is of the most importance so that he can't climb the screen to get right underneath it and end up burned. It can happen with the uv exposure as well, of...
