I also use this homemade device. It's the cardboard tube left over from a tinfoil roll, so it's smaller and less flimsy than the paper towel rolls. I isolate a cricket or two in there when there aren't many left by trapping them in the ring and burying it a little in their vermiculite substrate...
Chameleons need both eyes to zero-in on feeders to eat. They are very precise about this. So if an eye is damaged, that is definitely going to affect their eating habits.
Hey there - I have the same looking container for my crickets. Here's what I do to transfer them.
Pick up one of the egg carton pieces at a time and tap it into a funnel leading into one of these homemade dusters. My funnel has about an 8" opening, significantly bigger than the egg carton...
I switched basking bulb to a larger clear 150w bulb. Now the temp probe reads 80*, the temp gun on the basking branch reads 85* and if I temp gun Khalid, he is about 94*. He is a brighter green now, looking better than the darker colors he's been the last few days when the temp was under 80*...
Hey all -
Thanks for everyone's help so far. Khalid had his first vet visit yesterday and at one point the doc said things like "You've done your research! There isn't much more I can tell you."
And that's because of ya'll. Whether you know you've commented in the past, or whether you've just...

First shed in my care: 7/27, lasted a couple days
Shed once more in between
9/5/19-9/6/19
On 9/27, he started shedding one leg and by 9/29 was finished. The last time he shed, he shed just one leg first. Then a couple days later, the rest would go.
It's 10/6 and Khalid looks like the final...
Chameleon Info:
Your Chameleon - He is a veiled chameleon named Khalid. I got him on 7/21/19 at a local reptile Expo from Captive Bred Specialties. The seller told me he was 10 weeks old at the time of purchase. That would put his birthday at May 12th, 2019. It's June 2025 now, so he should be...
Hi all.
I called all the vets in MN Metro today to see who works with chameleons and how long they've been doing so.

Thanks everyone! I have gleened from other threads that the female will slow down or stop eating for a couple days when about to lay? Is that true?
Does she slow down in eating, but increase in a sort of manic activity?
Hello -
I am wondering at what age female chameleons begin to lay eggs and need the egg bins. Also, I am looking for a recommended vet in the Twin Cities area of MN.
Thanks!
Hello again -
I found this video
On how to make gutloading icecubes, kinda. Something that you could make once and have it last a whole month.
I have this resource: https://www.chameleonforums.com/blogs/feeder-nutrition-gutloading.75/ which I will comb through in detail, but I am wondering...
Hi there, Did I understand someone correctly when they said that Repashy SuperCal LoD is all you need to dust your feeders with every day?
You don't need to dust with Vitamins every 2 weeks? If you DO need to also use Vitamins, which brand do you recommend? Thanks!
Hey from MN ^^
Ok, I got the infographic and have checked a couple online sites, as petco has squat, what is a good regiment? Crickets, Dubia Roaches,... superworms, wax worms sometimes, silkworms when available? Even my local grocer didn't have over half gutload options. I am trying to learn...
