    Climbing the screen

Thank you. This makes sense. I'll put him in his bigger cage instead of waiting.

    Climbing the screen

I'll cut back the misting to twice a day and see how that goes. I'd put him in the bigger cage right away, but then I'm afraid he'll climb the screen and fall 4 feet. Should I do it anyway? In 2-4 weeks I will install the trellis as soon as it arrives either way.

    Climbing the screen

Oh man!! I just noticed that one of his toenails has ripped out. :( :( I hope it grows back.

    Climbing the screen

This trellis is exactly what is on the way. :) I feel like they are making it to order, though, because they said it would arrive a month after I ordered it.

Increasing ambient temps and/or humidity in mesh cage

This is exactly what I use. I thought it was the clear painters tarp you can buy, but it was left over window wrap I had. Works great.

    Climbing the screen

So I'm kinda all over the place here, but he's eaten less been waayy more active suddenly wants out of the cage any chance he gets now typically been a duller green lately (like camo-colors or true green/brown rather than the fantastic brights of angry and sleeping). This is adolescence? He...

    Climbing the screen

Hi again. I'd like to bump this thread again. Khalid has taken up the habit in the last week of just rushing at me when I stop at the screen. I open the door and he rushes out onto my hand, which he never used to do. I've only successfully hand fed him once and typically leave him alone! :P...

    Climbing the screen

Chameleon Info: Your Chameleon - He is a veiled chameleon named Khalid. I got him on 7/21/19 at a local reptile Expo. The seller told me he was 10 weeks old at the time of purchase. That would put his birthday at May 12th, 2019. It's mid September now, so he should be about 4 months old...

    Climbing the screen

Could my husbandry contribute to my chameleon climbing all over the sides of the screen? He also climbs to the floor often, but doesn't stay there. Just climbing all around almost aimlessly. He is in his 16x16x30 cage now. His 24x24x48 one is being constructed by me now; it's in the living...

    New Enclosure??

To be clear, if I had built ground up from the beginning, I would have saved money. The right set up costs more than $350. So I would not recommend buying this if you want to ensure the best care for your cham. I don't know enough about your chameleon to answer that.

    New Enclosure??

That's a good price for a nice looking enclosure, first off! At a glance, it looks adequate to me. It's like a Mac computer, sleek and all ready to go for you. On the same analogy, I think this enclosure would be difficult to modify if needed. As Beman said, check the lighting it comes with...

Why do we use basking bulbs?

So a T5HO UVB 5 or 10 *on its own* is enough light/the only light a cham needs, heat aside?

Why do we use basking bulbs?

The Exo Terra 600w dimming/pulse proportional thermostat came in the mail today. Up to 65$ on Amazon. I'd gladly return it if someone has a cheaper PPT they know about. Why why why wouldn't they run the day/night function on a light sensor and not a 24 hour timer? Another hole in the screen...

Why do we use basking bulbs?

I was wondering if UVB and CHE on a thermostat would be sufficient lighting/basking. From comments here already, I'm gathering that this is not recommended. Granted in my circumstance I have plenty of natural light already. I've decided to add plant lights. Anyone know if these wear out over...

    Plant Smells Bad

Funny enough, the plant looks like it's doing well, besides the smell. New growth.

    Plant Smells Bad

It looks like Schefflera Arboricola. The label says sche----era, it's damaged.

    Plant Smells Bad

This makes sense. I'm like a B-/C+ plant keeper, but this is the first plant I've ever just saturated with water constantly, being in the cage. I didn't know plants could start to smell from over watering. Good to know! Here I would probably be trying to run water through the soil to get rid...

    Plant Smells Bad

Probably an easy question, but I have a 10" umbrella plant that smells like a urinal after a month or so of being in the cage, and having been cleaned multiple times. Anyone else notice their potted plants stink? Besides cleaning the top soil weekly, are there other solutions, observations...

    Is my Cham crying?

You subscribe to Descartes's automaton philosophy? How do you finish this sentence: "Chameleons change colors based on their "... ? ;)
