Well that sucks, I guess I got lucky. Another option I considered is having a window screen fabricated to the dimensions of the Zen screen top. This can be done for pretty cheap by many local home hardware stores from my understanding, or for a little more by online retailers. You could then use...
My god...I used to have such faith in leaning on reddit when picking up a new hobby, but that's just rediculous. Apparently the platform has gone downhill, or chameleons are just niche enough that they've been invaded by a misled husbandry cult. Now I'm tempted to go check it out.
The creator of that website you linked says glass, hybrid, or screen are all suitable depending on your needs. Why are we still pretending like chameleons can't use glass?
Thanks. Also on plant lighting I was feeling spendy and already got a jungle dawn to go with my prot5 fixture, but I probably should have saved the money and got one like you linked
I guess I've somewhat came to terms with that there's too many variables in the plants and their sizes, that I still need to purchase, to have the potting situation solved in advanced. I'll likely just get the additional plants I need and work with the pots they come with for now
Edit: and also...
If the threshold is things that matter to providing the best possible environment for a cham, then correct I'm overthinking. If the threshold is providing a path for beginners to enter the hoby to provide the best possible life for the cham they will buy anyway...
Then look I'm just not the...
Preface: I know nothing about plants or growing them in pots. I have been doing my research and taking my time to execute a "textbook" forest edge a la chamaleonacademy.com for my first chameleon enclosure. I'm trying to sort out pots to use for the double pot method.
On the website it looks...
I always assume the review requests on this forum will just be various forms of humble brags by the well educated forum members, but I am always surprised. This forum is truly still doing good for the community.
You have to buy the 2x2 screen separate from them as a part. You're right, they wouldn't swap it out in an enclosure purchase for me either. They'll send it to their front office (may depend on if they have an extra one laying around or not) and they'll get back to you with a quote. They quoted...
Ok thanks.
I'm doing some experimenting with putting water on the unsealed edges of the panels to see how they react. The more I look at the material that I showed in my picture, it doesn't seem to be particleboard or wood, but I can permanently dent it with my fingernail. It does seem so far...
What was it like drilling into this material? Would you be concerned if water got inside the holes it would be absorbed in the panel and cause problems?
Yeah...look at the picture I posted yesterday. I literally just received the zen 2x2x4 "PVC" and it's not solid PVC. You can see it's some sort of particleboard with very thin pvc vaneer.
Should I send it back?
Should I be concerned how waterproof it is?
On the box it says 0-100% humidity and 3...
So zen doesn't sell solid pvc sides, their "composite pvc" is some kind of particleboard with a very think pvc vaneer. I kind of feel like I got got. How much would it cost me to diy knowing these panel types?
I apologize if your feelings were hurt, I'm just offering the truth. Since you've politicized this by out of context product plugging then I suppose no one will help me and I'll just make a close approximation from the product images. I'll be sure and post some progress pics here.
One more...
Thanks, but that was not my request. :)
I can easily make them myself, I'm just seeking dimension information, but that's even not essential, I just thought it would be nice to build them to the same specs. Also the magnet design will allow them to he easily moved.
If hiding this information...
Can someone with their 2x2x4 hybrid help me out with the lengths and dimensions of the ledges that are included with the cage?
I'm planing to build my own with aluminum stock and neodymium magnets for a zen habitat, but I wanted to eliminate guesswork in setup guides by using the same ledges...
