Ok, yea I think staples is the way to go, I just need to not be so anal about how it looks on the inside. I'm using flex seal liquid to waterproof the whole inside, so I'll probably put a coat over the staples and edge of the screen since it's all inside. Don't want to damage his little murder...
Looks great! I love a good DIY? Just curious, how will you attach the screen? I'm converting a big old hutch and I put the screen on one of the doors today with greenhouse batten tape and staples, but I dont love how it looks?
I see this was from May, but did you ever complete this project? I'm curious bc I'm doing the same thing. I just got done using flex seal tape around where the back panel meets the body of the hutch. I'd love to know how it turned out if you were able to do it!
No, the openings in the doors and sides will be covered in screen. I'm going to install 8" high walls at the bottom on the sides and front to essentially make a box for the soil. I'm going to line it with something, pond liner or something similar.
I picked up this fantastic piece of furniture yesterday and have started deconstructing it to a degree with plans to make it a bioactive chameleon Taj Mahal! I plan to seal all larger gaps with flex seal tape, then coat the entire inside with several coats of liquid flex seal. I'm going to add...
This pic here was his dropping from 3 days ago, but one I found about a week ago and unfortunately didn't take a picture. The urate was all orange, like the color of a creamsicle. When I spray, I make sure to aim for the back corner of his mouth so it doesnt get in his nostrils. I basically just...
My buddy was a touch dehydrated about a week ago and I think it's because he hasn't learned to drink well yet. I started gently spraying his mouth with a tiny stream of water twice a day for the past 3 days and i think he's doing better. This poo was from today and was accompanied by a good...
Hi all. I currently have a 7 month old Male panther who I've had for about 3 weeks. Hes in a ln XL reptibreeze 2x2x4 screen enclosure but I'm thinking sometime in the next few months I'd like to move him to something...better. I found a china cabinet that with some remodeling could work nicely...
Update! He seems to be fine today, I fed him some dubias with no issue. Sorry for freaking out but watching a chameleons tongue just casually fall out and seeing how thin and fragile it is.... well it was just bizzare!
Thank you so much! In hindsight I'm very glad he got it back in quickly and didn't bite down on it. The mid section is SO thin, I can see how that could easily happen? I will definitely keep an eye on it. Hes been totally normal otherwise, fingers crossed it was just a fluke. I'll update...
No he hasnt tried hornworms yet. Out of curiosity, why would that matter? I only meant before bedtime, not like RIGHT before bed. He wouldn't eat that late in the day anyway.
A little bit of both. I kind of place the feeders on the screen near him. He had just eaten maybe an hour before the incident, and he seemed totally fine, no tongue issues then. I'll try feeding him again before bed and hopefully hes OK ?
Your Chameleon - Leif Erikson is a Male ambilobe panther, hes about 7 months old and we got him 6/28/2020.
Handling - I plan to handle him only when absolutely necessary, so far I have not touched him, only coaxed him onto sticks to get him out in order to rearrange his habitat a bit.
Feeding -...
I KNOW? hes incredibly shy and stubborn so I feel like his behavior is all spite due to his name. Ironically, he was more active today than ever before. He has an appt with an exvet on 7/22 and will hopefully get a clean bill of health?
Single reflector. He was on a hunger strike the first week we had him so I wanted to make sure he could get to where the crickets hang out. Also, he climbs the top and before I put that vine up, I caught him a handful of times hanging with no way to get down( hes not the smartest dude). Should...
I just made one from a 1 liter bottle and thought for sure my cham wouldnt go near it. But I caught him this morning eating from it! The edges are a little sharp so I'll probably remake it with PVC pipe soon now that I know he likes it.
