Here is another one that I made that branches out from veggies a little bit: Gutloading ingredients
Just in case you wanted to see some more exotic or alternative options as well as the basic ingredients.
They are good for gutloading but I would hold off until you are 100% sure, because who knows, if its not hibiscus, it could be something toxic for chameleons. Better to be safe than sorry.
First of all, stay away from mealworms, as they can cause impaction. Superworms are a better staple as long as they are gutloaded well, same goes for any feeders you decide to use. I find that the dubia roaches worked way better for my cham and I because they never escaped, they gutload easily...
You are doing pretty well so far. For the plants, I would hang the pothos up and string the vines all around the sides of the cage because your cage could use a little more foliage and filling. For her supplements, you should use regular calcium every feeding, and calcium with D3 every couple...
I hope that her passing away and the mystery of why she did can help educate others so that they may catch oddities in time, oddities that can sometimes be fatal. I hope your chameleon will be okay, keep us updated :)
Take it from someone who recently lost their chameleon . . . the very first thing I noticed was that one of my cham's eyes were swollen, and I thought it was peculiar. I am not saying your chameleon is in deep trouble yet, but definitely a vet visit. Unfortunately for my cham, she didn't survive...
It looks pretty good so far. I think you should add another plant maybe hanging from the top to add some more coverage and a few more horizontal sticks/branches just for more filler. Is your cham female or male?
I would just keep an eye on it and keep us updated on how he is doing. Make sure you mist the plants a lot so he has plenty of chances to drink when he needs.
It seems like your care is good, and he doesn't look dehydrated in the photos. Why do you think he may be dehydrated? Dehydration usually causes lethargy, weakness, sunken eyes, and orange urates. Shedding is a good thing, it means he is growing. Does your cham show any of these symptoms of...
My cham just recently passed right after I had bought 100 brand new 3/4" dubia roaches, and instead of just throwing them out, I figured someone on here could use them. No charge, I will just send them to the first person who wants them. I want to get rid of them as fast as possible. I have them...
I love animals so much but it is so hard to go through losing them. They are just so wonderful, little chams and all animals. I am sure many people here feel the same about our little babies. My heart goes out to everyone who has ever lost a pet in their life. It is such a rough experience...
I am going to miss her a lot. Thank you all so much. She is still alive at the moment, but I don't know for how much longer. It hurts my heart to see her in such a sad condition.
It appears we were too late. We tried everything and called around 5 different vets, but they didn't have any appointments until next week. My little cham has been in a downward spiral the past day, and now I am fairly sure she will not make it through the day. She is still holding onto a stick...
