    I keep my chameleons outside 24/7.. IMO, they cannot receive too much sun (even if they are in the shade cooling down, they get light), so I'd keep the bulb going.. But I wouldnt use it for more time than there is actual sunlight.

    My guess would be that if they have enough space to roam around on the ceiling there would be no need to climb down to the floor. They dont necessarily have to come down to the floor, but I'd provide the vertical pathways along with the horizontals just so there is variety in their little world...
