1/4 inch crickets are fine for a young cham. You will want to feed a variety of insects and crickets aren’t the most nutritious option. The supplement schedule you laid out seems fine. Humidifier is a possibility depending on the humidity levels your getting naturally. If you got the chameleon...
It’s been about a week since my 3 month old cham’s last shed. He still has the smallest piece on the tip of his tail. I’ve read other threads about it possibly constricting the tail so I just want to make sure I should continue to leave it alone at this point. He is otherwise doing fine. Thanks!
Your cham seems a little close to his lights to me and it looks like you have them on the screen. How far is the top of his head to the screen? What wattage bulb are you using for his heat lamp and what temperatures are you getting at the basking spot?
The key to a basking bulb is just getting the wattage that gets the temps where you need them. It will depend on your ambient temperature and the placement of your fixture. If you can raise it off the screen, that would eliminate the risk of your cham getting burned.
I think the issue was that the OP was using the calcium with vitamin d on top of the multivitamin which also had vitamin d in a similar amount. All in all was about 45,000 IU/kg of vitamin D at every feeding when combined by my calculations which i agree is excessive.
I don’t know about that. It depends on the supplement being used, and even then, it seems to be a gray area. I can’t imagine based on the OPs lighting that the cham was getting much D3 through UVB. I believe Reptical with D3 that the OP was using has about the same D3 as Repashy Calcium Plus...
I use a clear container so he can see them. I put the bowl in the same spot daily which is usually where he is hanging out or has to walk by to get to his basking spot. I have a feeder from https://www.fullthrottlefeeders.com/ as well but haven’t started using it yet.
Re: your previous posts. I would use a feeder cup of some kind. I’m currently just using a clear deli cup. Black colors are probably just from him getting anxious or upset. You should be feeding more as well. My 3 month old eats about 15 crickets a day at this age on top of a few small BSFL and...
Can you fill out the information below for the community to review? This will help a lot with husbandry advice.
It is normal for them to be active in a new enclosure and I would give him a week or two to settle before you start handling. I would try having a feeder cup where you can contain the...
