Update
The vet texted me and said the histopath came back with papilloma. :( we suspected it. I'm mad because the first reptile vet told me it was fungus and looked at him for a few seconds, then blamed my husbandry.
This newer vet has done nothing but research through the veterinarian...
He is doing pretty good, back to his normal routine... Which means, by the time I get home from clinic, he's already up under his leaf ready for bed. :) thank you everyone for sending him such positive thoughts!!
He was just about his usual self, I could tell that he was hurting some. But he immediately drank and ate a cricket. Had my iPad up on video so I could check on him throughout the day at clinic and could see him moving all around. Also had the chameleons babysitter come by to check on him and he...
Struggled with one of the biopsied spots bleeding this afternoon. Bled 3 different times and had me worried at how much blood he was losing. The vet did cauterize them, but he may have busted this one open, who knows. With Jann's advice I ran to the store to get some wound stop stuff. Came home...
Hehe, thank you Laurie... He's my first little love to chameleons! I just want him to have the best little life that he could have. He's been hanging out with me since November 3, 2013. :)
Thank you for all the well wishes.... He did pretty good, she tried to make the procedure 10 minutes or less. She noticed that his breathing started to change near the end so she quickly finished and took him off anesthesia and let him start to recover. So far, we have 4 samples to send off to...
The dang fire ants here seem to know the tracking numbers on packages... If I order hornworms, I had better get them directly from the carriers hands to mine. Can't tell you how many times I've fought nasty fire ants with hornworms.
The ants in SC are no joke... My yard is infested with them.
Whoops, wrong picture... The iPad acts funny on the website.
The pic above is Flash, also from Sunday. He went from being crazy, run away from you in his cage, hissing with gaping, and would leap off to get away from you skittish to absolutely lounging out of his cage onto your hand. He will...
He goes tomorrow at noon to remove the suspected pox/papilloma growths. I'm pretty worried about him because he has slowed down in the last few weeks. Not sure if it's the weather changing or what. But I'm worried sick over this procedure because I've never had a animal this small go under for...
PLAIN calcium needs to be used at every feeding. You also need calcium with D3, as well as a multivitamin which would be alternated every week on one day. I use Saturdays as my days. So like today was multivitamin day, next saturday will be calcium with D3, and then the following saturday...
.... And I totally get what you mean and feel about being able to come home after work to see him. My one is usually more than happy for me to leave him be, but my other is a total love bug, especially at 6:30 am when I'm trying to leave. So I try to give him some chin rubs, and hand feed him...
How late are you feeding him? If you are feeding him late, or shortly before his lights turn off, that could be an issue as well. They should eat earlier in the day so they can bask (which helps them digest), and move around to digest that food they ate and by the time they go to bed they won't...
They DO yawn, but it's a open, yawn, and close thing. If he's constantly holding his mouth open just a little bit, he's a little too warm.
During this time of the year, I typically turn my basking lights down some because it's so hot right now. Get a laser gun thermometer (they are cheap) and...
I'll be sure to update and see what she says. I wish I had spoken up at the vet when we went in the fall when this started showing up. But I trusted this 'exotic' vet in what he was saying to me. :(
