Sorry, this is so late!!! I am not entirely sure what that is but your best bet is to visit a vet and see, because if this is a fungal infection it will only get worse. I am so sorry this happened i wish you and dexter the best of luck!
When a female Chameleon is laying eggs she literally sucks all the calcium from her bones to form the eggs. This is extremely dangerous and can take the life of a chameleon if not treated well. A calcium injection from a vet will help prevent further distortion of bones and pain. Hope all goes well!
First thing's first, I do not recommend locusts for such a small animal. With past experience, small chameleons and locusts don't mix well. I understand the issue is with him consuming the bark substrate. I usually tape a piece of paper towel on the ground to absorb extra water and to keep the...
You said you had him for 2 weeks? This may be an acclimation thing. How long has this been going on? How often do you dust with D3 and Calcium? I am not noticing any strange bone structure. Do you hand feed/free range/ or cup feed? I have had experience with chameleons going wack from cup...
Sounds like its worth a try. He gets scared once i open the door. I am not sure if that will work, but ill try. I am traveling to Spain soon (for around 2 weeks) and my reptile store (where i bought him) has a daycare where he gets around the clock care for around 5 bucks a day. I found this...
He actually has been in a better mood since i put it there. He is stressed because i opened the cage to look. After watching him he never actually looks at the pin, so i don't think it is anything to worry about. It ended up just being shed skin. I was worried because he had just shed so i...
Recently Sebastian (9 month old veiled) has gone into a mean stage. He absolutely hates me. I keep hand feeding him but no progress has really been made. This isn't the problem. The real problem is i haven't been able to clean out his cage for a week almost 2 weeks. It is starting to smell a...
My chameleon has done the same thing. Unfortunately, i fell prone to this same trickery. I bought mine as a baby and he was the sweetest little thing. Now he hisses at me once i open the cage. Chameleons are not good pets for handling. They are a usually see not touch sort of pet. Maybe in time...
After a long day i got home, fed my chameleon and after a good look, i found a strange white patch on his skin. I am not sure if it is shed skin but i didn't want to open his cage and inspect because he can get aggressive when i open it. recently he has been acting up so, i have been finding...
She probably mistook your nail as a piece of fruit or veggie. You need to be very careful... if the chameleon ends up ingesting any polish he/she may get sick due to the toxic chemicals in the polish. I like to wear mittens or rubber gloves because sometimes my chameleon ends up on my hand and i...
I have a 8 month old veiled. He lives in a netted cage around 3 feet by 2 feet. He gets misted for 30 seconds maybe 6 times a day. His cage stays around 80-85 degrees. He has never really liked me, and i signed up for a "see but not touch" animal in the first place. I knew i wasn't going to hold...
He has a regular food schedule around 4 pm He isnt eating anymore (switched to crickets). i gave him a day of no food to clear his tummy but now he isn't eating at all! He hasn't pooped and today he seemed to be less energetic. He is resting his head more often and I'm not seeing urine or stool...
Make sure to look at his urates (the white sacks that are excreted with the feces). If they are dark yellow or orange you may have a problem but if they are white your chameleon is healthy. Remember that chameleons tend to like privacy. My chameleon does not drink or poop in front of me...
