    Gasping at night

I couldn’t agree more. Chameleons are masters at hiding their symptoms, sometimes until it’s too late. Many times people don’t know their Cham is sick until they are on deaths door, so just because he may look slightly better, doesn’t mean he is. Chameleons don’t get over colds. I’m sorry OP, i...

    Passing of Oldchamkeeper

This is so sad, I am very sorry for your loss 😔

    Gasping at night

I don’t know how allowed this is, so I don’t want to say yes or no before a moderator can weigh in. I assume this means your Cham is still alive, so that’s great! How’s he looking? Hopefully someone can give their advice on whether or not this is something OP can do.

    Gasping at night

My apologies if it came off as excessively rude, however I’m not going to sugar coat a situation to someone if an animals life is on the line. I honestly don’t think it was that rude, she did get advice, but refused to listen to it or couldn’t, but there is no alternative to a veterinarian...

    Gasping at night

You came here for help, got some solid advice and you don’t want to follow it. Surrender the animal, you clearly can’t care for it properly.

    Gasping at night

I’m sorry you’re in that situation. However, I t’s completely inhumane to just let him suffer and die, which he most certainly will. He is likely at the pneumonia stage that comes at the latter end of an RI (or at least from what I’ve learned). Post him on the chameleon classifieds here on the...

    Gasping at night

I hope this comment doesn’t get too much criticism, but call any vet in your area, see if they have an emergency veterinarian who sees any reptiles. Say it’s urgent and you have a chameleon who is on his deathbed. You’ll want a medication like Baytril - see if you can talk to the vet and explain...

Treating gular edema and eye issues

Yes I’ve seen this. I know he’s growing and he doesn’t look fat to me in person much at all, he’s been filling out a lot over the last week and a half and I have been planning to cut down his feeding very soon anyway but I will do it immediately.

Treating gular edema and eye issues

I was told by the breeder Framschams and many others that I should stop feeding him daily at one year. He’s 11 months, he’ll be 1 on March first. He currently eats about 10-15 bugs (crickets, dubias, BSFL, silkworms) Is he looking like he needs to cut down on the crickets?

Treating gular edema and eye issues

Hello all, My chameleon has struggled with gular edema for a few months now. I am not entirely sure why or what caused it, but I was told that it could be related to vitamins. I was also told it could be related to hydration. Additionally, his eyes look a little less perky and the borders of...

    URI Medication?

Thank you for your helpful and thoughtful reply! This makes me feel better about my cham and his prescription. I'm glad he got the medication he is on now, and actually am seeing some brighter colors and he seems a bit more perky! I am hoping for continued improvement! Question for you (or...

What vet would ever suggest doing this?

So this video that I saw on my YouTube recommended is showing a vet instructing people on how they should soak their chameleon for hydration and to aid them in shedding...WHAT? Who told you this was okay? I cannot stand when vets apply their knowledge of bearded dragon care to all reptiles. Not...

    URI Medication?

I think her [the vet's] idea was that if it isn't edema, then possibly the meloxicam would help reduce any swelling. She was also wanting to be extra proactive about preventing pneumonia or a worsening RI so she said it would/could help with any inflammation in his lungs as well. Regarding the...

    URI Medication?

@kinyonga @MissSkittles @JacksJill the vet prescribed Cefatzidime injections or his respiratory infection and meloxicam orally to help with any inflamation and to see if it would help with his gular edema. I was just told elsewhere that neither of these medications will help with his problems -...

    URI Medication?

Thanks so much! I hope the meds are correct and will help him. The vet seemed knowledgeable, but the techs I don't think knew too much about injecting reptiles or chameleons.

    URI Medication?

Going to tag a couple people because I'd like to know various opinions. My vet prescribed ceftazidime for my little guy, which they showed my how to give an injection and told me to do it in his back legs, alternating each time as I do it. This is contrary to what I actually just heard in a...

    URI Medication?

Just as a little update - I found a vet close by and brought him. He hadn't been improving or getting worse, so I wanted to get him checked. We got him on an anti inflammatory and antibiotic injections. I forgot to get a fecal done, and of course he pooped in his transport bin on the way there...

    URI Medication?

You have a good point. I was wondering if maybe my nighttime temperatures aren't low enough for the fogging, but it feels cold in the room at night, and hovers around 70, where I've heard that 68 is the magic number. Humidity has been hard to control, but I'm working on it! I contacted the vet...

    URI Medication?

Hi all! I believe my male panther of 11 months may have a very mild URI. I have heard him cough once or twice over the past two weeks, and when he is out on my hand with me, I'll hear a very quiet pop sound once every 30 or so seconds. I'm not really sure how it could have been caused, because...
