My LPS doesn't carry silkworms the only worms they have are supers, wax and horns. They also carry crickets dubia and hissers. I want more than this. What else can i give my veiled and what is a good online place i can buy from that has good prices? Im in Jacksonville NC if that helps since i...
you are probably right. I have a grow bulb and only recently realized that it's a t8 and i need a t5. I paid $25 for a 4 foot tall ficus from Lowe's so if you have one local you might try there also. I ended up buying a massive pothos centerpiece and have been happy with it, i dont have the...
heh my cham will not drink if anyone is in the room. i have never seen him drink, but i know he must be because i have had him since march and he is growing and growing. i guess this might be worth a try if you arent home to hand mist. Won't know unless you try it. Maybe you can find someone on...
i like the grass idea. everything looks good except you need foliage, big time, LOTS of it. Having the soil and grass and worms is what we call bioactive, which i didnt think could be done with a chameleon. Get yourself some live plants (pothos do very well and are viney). I am interested to see...
yeah its the chemicals we are really worried about. i am from florida and i will tell you, if an iguana jumps in a chlorinated pool, it will die after a few days. That being said, some people have salt water pools, which are slowly gaining popularity. I'm glad he is ok.
a few people who use it say they never see the cham drinking from it and have to constantly clean it. i havent tried it myself, my cham does well with hand misting
i did all of this as well with a single pothos. mine did not go through shock in fact they are thriving. Dividing plants is not easy on them so its ok to notice a little bit of something going on.
the wilted ones need water, quick! pothos are very hard to under water.
wilting means they are...
absolutely! just be prepared for him to chomp on them if he's a veiled. you might want to consider mounting a small cup to the cage and fill it with bits of greens, veilds love their salad.
i have a ton of oatmeal leftover from my daughter, so i gut load with that, chow, plus greens. its amazing how quickly they can eat a stem of romaine lettuce overnight. i gut load my supers too.
agreed if you stick them in a cup with mealworms, the worms will irritate them and make them move around, so you cham just might go for them. mine pretty much will eat anything that wriggles. that includes if i wriggle some lettuce in his face.
omg i thought my veiled was the only one who does this. he will puff up, hiss, and ram with his head lol. but once you get him on your hand he unpuffs and chills out. veilds are silly.
also, when you say reptirain, do you mean the misting system? I hand mist my dudes plants 4 times a day and leave a dripper on low and it works fine but if you dont have time to hand mist i have heard the mistking is good. hopefully someone who has experience using automatic misting systems will...
Temperature:
-Baby/juvenile (<9 months): ambient 72-80F (22-26C), basking spot 85F (29C). I think juveniles do better with a lower wattage basking bulb, like a 60watt. After a while you will eventually switch to 75watt bulbs. I suggest using regular size ceramic domes for basking spots because...
set it to 200 and let them bake for 1-2hours. if they are thin branches you may want to consider just scrubbing them because thin ones usually don't survive the oven they will just get crispy and fall apart (i made that mistake lol)
