I just got a shipment of 50 spikes in from Rainbow Mealworms. I know they are supposed to be refrigerated in larvae form but I want these guys to pupate into actual flies. A few questions I have
What container would be appropriate for this? I'm assuming they will suffocate in the bag they were...
An update in case anyone is interested: Cleo passed the perlite just fine. Luckily it was a small piece and I will be taking preventative measures from now on
And yes, I did have to mush the poop up to make sure o_O
Chameleons should eat in the mornings as they need to bask throughout the day to help with digestion and nutrient absorption. Brown/black feces is normal. The "something white" you saw was the urates which should be white. It's similar to how urine works with humans, white or very pale yellow...
Make sure you also are giving calcium with D3 every other week, and vitamins every other week as well. A good schedule would be D3 on week 1 and 3 of the month, and vitamins on week 2 and 4 for example
Still a bit too blurry. But so far not seeing a spur so I'm still leaning more towards female. Do you see a spur on its back legs? As for stuff for a baby chameleon, make sure any husbandry issues that have been previously mentioned by others are taken care of. Provide a nicely decorated...
Still hard to tell, but I dont see a spur on the back feet so possibly female. Dont stress him/her trying to get more pics, but if possible try to take a picture from the backside so we can see the full pad.
if youd rather compare, here is an example of the spurs you’ll be looking for
Increase misting (without exceeding humidity of 60%, 70% at the most) and focus on leaves and its body. Invest in a dripper if you haven’t yet, and the drinking glass method could he useful if the cham takes to it :)
Okay young teen! Its great seeing younger people interested in reptiles and chameleons in general. From what I read in your replies I think the chameleon is just a little stressed. I don’t think you have a sick chameleon on your hands. If for some reason the dark colors persist and you see...
Above, dude I might be new to the forum, but I do have reptile experience. I have owned cresties and beardies, Cleo is my first chameleon though which is why I decided to join the forum. Also Im not a dude. New to a forum does not mean new to owning reptiles, dude lol...
I wasnt too sure about Petsmart, Im an aquatic specialist at Petco and we only stock males because of the whole issue with lay bins and the environment not being suitable for a gravid female. Im not sure if that applies to other Petco locations as well but back when I was struggling on...
Id love to know this as well. This is coming off as a child/younger teen who impulsively bought a chameleon without any research, or previous experience with reptiles. Should have gotten a beardie or leo imo
I don’t mean to come off as rude, but no one can help you until you properly fill out the help questionnaire and are able to take better photos.
Now that you said its from Petsmart I am assuming its male, as the Petco I work at only stocks males because females has more requirements such as...
I would leave it alone for now, but once he/she settles in work on handling him/her for 20-30 minutes a day. Yes chams do like to be left alone but proper handling can tame a chameleon. Cleo went from biting and hissing me non stop to now he might hiss once and then lets me take him out, and...
What colors? Chameleons get different colors based on mood or temperatures. Ill include some photos but green is generally happy, darker colors like teal can be basking colors as the dark colors helps them absorb heat, angry is brown and black.
you can see in some images hes whatever color the...
