I was searching around for info about the desired level of UVB in a chams enclosure. I came up with several different opinions... lol Basically anywhere from 15 micro-watts per square cm to about 30 @ the basking site. This seems like a pretty broad range. Any thoughts or opinions? Cheers!
Hey Ace! Way to go tryin to save that little meller... In my opinion overcrowding by dealers is half the problem with imports. Now that its got a good home I would think it should bounce back. The nosy be looks really nice too! Congrats. Cheers!
What gets me is the "mellers are communal" idea that 10 to an aquarium is fine... let em crawl all over each other... they like it. In my opinion, while they may be more tolerant of each other than say, panthers or veileds, they really seem to like being alone.
I picked up a couple of really small WC juvies last fall... they're doing great and growing like weeds. If I could find more in Canada from a reliable source I wouldn't hesitate to get a few more. 9 outa 10 I see around here are really beat adults in no shape to breed. Out of my 6 only the three...
I would suggest you tip your fixture a little. Use a block of wood or something that isn't too flammable. Aim it so the light hits your cham on the side. Maybe try a search for a better explanation of "lateral basking" Cheers!
I purchased a few items from Todd at Light your Reptiles and ran into a slight snag shipping (Canada Post on strike) Todd resolved this ASAP and my stuff is on it's way! Great customer service and a nice guy to talk to on the phone. Cheers!
Does any body know where I could buy a UVB meter in Canada? I don't want to deal with cross border shipping & Canada customs if I don't have to. Cheers!
Poor little dude! To me it looks like healed burns… maybe a bit of MBD as well, the bad aim is also making me think MBD. Great job re-homing... the little dude deserves a second chance! I would change out the UVB bulb for a new one to be sure he's getting his rays. Cheers!
