chameleons are great!! they are often described as a " hard to keep " reptile what I like to tell new buyers of my chams is that they are not neccisarily hard but rather less tolerant of mistakes and poor keeping a chameleon that is kept in sub par conditions will not last very long compared...
I have gotten into the habbit of giving the crickets what they will eat in a day and feed them every other day nothing sucks more than picking out mushy gross old fruits and veggies
seems like you are getting the right advise biggest thing is letting her settle and as said allowing the crickets to go free in the cage usually stimulates a more natural feeding behaviour
hope everything works out great for you and your lil girl
whenever I have had a cham suffering form edema I stop all vit d and multivitamin suppelementation and use plain calcium every other day.
that combined with a lot of extra mistings and showers and some natural sunlight and the results are usually positive

most vets prefer to see the cham for a few reasons they may be able to spot something that could indicate a reason for the issue as well as they usually can not give any meds with an actual exam of the animal.
with your original question I have taken in fecal sample before and never been...

So very sorry. I know Annie was a special lil girl. She left you some super cute lil babies and live a life of luxury with you.
It's never easy.
R.I.P Annie.
Big hugs Laurie
Chameleons can act a bit off for the first little while after being moved into a new home. I would add more vertical branches like you mentioned and appropriate misting feeding and supplementing as we'll fill out the "how to ask for help " form in the health section.
Hope all turn out well for you
Like Rob said you would require cites permits witch would not be cost effective for a single chameleon. I wish it were easier to ship between US and canada I would love to send some of my babies down there.
So sorry to hear this. I too have not been on in forever and really want to try and get back into the cf habbit,
