Got Basil's fecal done today, we're in the clear!
I swore up and down I wouldn't bring any animal home today. Came home with a baby crested gecko with no tail haha. My friend also got a baby with no tail, mine is lighter, hers is darker. So their names are Yin and Yang. Last names are Stub :p
I'm sure you would rather have them make sure the animal is taken care of properly and arrive healthy than to have someone else ship for them and possibly end up with something in bad condition. These guys are fragile. I think that was a good thing to do. At least they told you instead of just...
I use Jurassi Safe, similar I'm sure. If I had time to leave water out over night, I would just do that, but I refill the bucket I use for my rain system as needed, not ahead of time. So I throw a cap full of it in there when I fill it up to be on the safe side.
I agree with Ace. There is a 14 yr old on here that has healthy chameleons and even hatched out a clutch from his own female when he was 13 and raised the babies to selling age and kept one baby still kickin. Then there are some older keepers who have much less a clue what they are doing...
If you are comfortable with him eating them that size I wouldn't worry, as long as the feeder isn't wider than the space between the cham's eyes and he isn't showing signs of difficulty swallowing.
I got 500 twice and both times no more than 100 hatched and then 3/4 of those died right away. I followed exact directions. I'd like input too, from more than just who I bought them from.
That I found a baby cham in my male veiled's cage. Then another, and another, and so on. Turns out he was actually a she, and had laid eggs in the plants so I never knew until they hatched and came out. Then I was scrambling to find something to keep the babies in while also making sure she was...
When I'm at his house, he plays games, I look on the forums, Not all the time though of course we spend time together.
I used to feel neglected because he's constantly at the gym, but now I don't have to feel rushed to come over when taking care of my cham and tortoise.
How much would it cost to get a fecal done at the vet? Since the show is every 4 months, would it be more cost effective to pay $10 every 8 months here than going to a vet to get it done?
Well you can spend money on having one person come in, not knowing for sure they're knowledge/experience level (possibly just in it for the money). Or you can fill out the form as detailed as possible with pictures and get feedback from multiple people for free... :)
So I kept reading that if you can't get your cham to eat Dubia, to try to give them a freshly molted one. Well, I didn't have that problem... Basil ate the Dubia just fine. When I found two that had just molted I put them in the cup with two brown ones, and he ate the brown ones and left the...
