Yep-it is normal. He wants to seem bigger than he is. They will continue to do it as adults. All of my male Veileds, and some of my females, will "puff up" shortly after lights come one. I always tell them how big and bad and mean they look! :)
Maybe just a little overreacting. :) Panthers in particular, even baby ones, love to bite at biovine-I swear they put something in it that makes them want to do it. I think your feeder cup is a little too deep-try a shallower one.
I have them in 16X16X30's, and will load them up with live plants and cover-I was going for easy to clean during quarantine and fecals. I can leave them in the dining room, but I am not sure I can create to much of a variance in the house. In the winter, fall, and early spring house temps can...
Trace-what size cage would you suggest for these guys? I will house them separately of course, but what would be optimal? The male is very, very active, and roams the entire cage. His cage is planted with a Pothos that took up most of the cage until it died down a little. Of course he was...
100 watts will be way too hot. You can actually get away with just the one fixture if it is the one that holds two screw in bulbs. You could put a safe compact UVB(Reptiglo 5.0 or newer made Reptisun 5.0) in one side and a 60 watt bulb in the other side. Make sure your chameleon has a vine...
They absolutley get out in the sun! I have plenty of pictures on here of my pool deck lined with cages-my neighbors think I am crazy! :)Wasabi would be happy anywhere there is food! I am debating keeping anyone outside full time. I am not sure if it is the pool, or just the high heat and...
I would not. I know some people suggest doing it every other day and do not see harm, but D3 can certainly build up in the system and cause harm. Many breeders suggest using a no D3 calcium most of the time, and one with D3 twice monthly and a multivite twice monthly until they are a good...
Well-this is something I should think about! I guess the closest thing to seasonal cycling I have right now it that it has really started to get hot and humid here in the past few weeks, so temps in the house and humidity would have increased slightly. I have only had these guys a few months...
Hmmmm-maybe she just hates this male? He was all too willing. She, however walked right over to him, and then went after him with a vengeance. She is a mean one!
When should I try this again?
She has the ability to make herself look pretty darn wide if she wants, and then she can slim down. I thought the same thing when i saw the picture. She could not see the Veiled-there are visual barriers.
Cain-when was she last with a male?
Here is a thread from when they were young. These guys were never small! They hatched out looking like 2 month olds. You can see why he was named Hershey.

I have a picture somewhere where a bunch of his siblings have him...
MBD or MBD like disorder. He was in the same cage with the same lighting and supplementation. The other babies picked on him mercilessly, as if they knew something was wrong with him. I will try to find that thread.
Thanks everyone, and no, he looked normal until about 4-5 months of age, and then he really stopped growing for the most part. He is about 4" snout to vent. That is about half the size of his brothers.
