New to chameleons and I have questions!

In my experience you can keep siblings together in the same cage till 4 or 5 months old, provided they remain around the same size. Based on your description it sounds like one is significantly smaller then the other 2. You may want to separate the slower growing one sooner than that. Also...

I need help with mating chameleons

Do you have another male, or can you borrow another male from a friend? Put the 2nd male within visual sight of the male and female you want to mate. The presence of competition often entices the male to finish the job-

October is perfect outdoor weather for Chameleons in Las Vegas

So yesterday I'm working in my backyard putting finishing touches on a Desert Tortoise enclosure and I decided to let my large male Veiled free range in the new Mesquite tree I just planted. He roamed the tree enjoying himself when he suddenly puffed up, expanded his throat, and colored up. I...

They look good. What temperature are you incubating them at? In my experience incubating at 74-78F they will hatch in 6 1/2 a 7 1/2 months.

still confused about night time temps.

Once my hatchlings reach 3-4 months old, I keep them outside between 85F (daytime high) and 55F (overnight low). As long as the room your keeping him in is no cooler than that he should be fine. I recommend that a basking spot be at least 85F, 90+ for adult Veileds. I recommend lights on a...

    Senegal Wont eat...3 weeks now

I echo the comments about supplements- you're gut loading feeders on leafy greens (great!) so use supplements sparingly- no more than once a week for calcium, once a month for D3. Also removing substrate is good. My concern is watering- Senegals are from a tropical savannah climate with...

    Nobody Wants Veileds?

Mike- wholesale is generally less than that in South Florida right now- I had a clutch hatch in January, was able to sell it in February for $12/ea. However when the feral hatchlings start appearing in large numbers (May-August is the peak time of year) prices drop to $7.50-$8/ea.

    Nobody Wants Veileds?

Interesting discussion- there are certainly lots of breeders out there for Veileds, from small hobbyists to large commercial enterprises. What seems to be little understood on this forum is the volume of Veileds that come from wild caught stock from florida's feral populations- if you are buying...

    egg laying advice?

I assume she's never been with a male/bred? She may not lay infertile eggs at all if that is the case. I had a female for 2 1/2 years, never bred her, and she never laid infertile eggs. When I finally did breed her- BAM - 3 clutches of eggs in 8 months, all fertile-

    Outdoor housing question

What species of chameleon are you keeping outdoors? I keep adult Veileds and Oustalet's outside in Vegas up to 105F with no problems- they have plenty of shade and a mister on a timer that runs from 2-4pm each day. In early spring and late fall they stay outside overnight as long as the...

    Oustalets Chameleons?

I've cared for and bred Oustie's for close to 2 years now. I have found their care requirements to be very similar to Veileds and Panthers. I recommend housing male and female separately. I've know a couple of friends who housed them in pairs without issue, but I haven't done it. Cage sizes you...

    Hormworms

I don't think you're going to have a problem- I feed adult Veileds, Oustalet's, and in the past Jackson's - horned worms regularly. The are soft and easy for them to chew/ swallow, and high in protein, and they greatly enjoy them. I'm not sure about the nature of the injury to your panther, but...

    New Veiled Chameleon

I echo the comments regarding a screen cage, no substrate, lighting, and feeding. Regarding hydration I recommend misting only once a day- 3 times a day is too much. As an adult I recommend 1 long misting/watering every other day, with the cage drying out after watering. Nutrition- I...

    misting n stuufff

What species of chameleon do you have? If it's a Veiled, I would be cautious about overwatering and creating a moldy habitat. An adult Veiled only needs a good misting once every other day, and dripper running for a couple of hours only once a week-
