The minimum for an adult male panther chameleon is 2x2x4. The minimum size for a female is generally 18x18x36.
I raise my babies in exo terras then move them into their adult screen cages at about 6 months.
Exo terra do not make a cage big enough for an adult male. Drainage is also a big...
You shouldn't have to do anything to achieve this temperature gradient. With chameleons the gradient will be vertically with the cooler areas being closer to the cage floor.
You can still breed them but they must be labelled correctly and not as many people may want them because they are not pure.
It makes it even more complicated with the fact you have no clue what your female is at all. I personally wouldn't breed them at all not knowing the females locale...
He most likely needs more space. I would use a Xl reptibreeze screen cage which is 2x2x4. I am in th UK too and there is no problem keeping humidity and hat up in a screen cage like many people think.
She looks big enough to mate. There is no way to get her to mate you just have to wait untill she is ready.
I take it this is your nosy be female and you know about crossing locales together?
Quite a few people have got chams from them. As far as price goes if an animal is good quality then price doesn't matter as much but for that price i would prefer to buy from a breeder which will allow me to see the sires colours and trace the animals genetics.
If the bulb is a T8 go the full length
If the bulb is T5 then three quarters if the cage is adequate but you can run it the full length if you wish
If using T8 a 10.0 reptisun will be best
I would use the 12% T5 but many people use the 6% T5 with success.
Unless the chameleon sits directly under the bulb all day i personally feel he will kot be getting the uv he needs. I would use at least a 10.0 or a 12% T5 HO bulb. With these HO T5 bulbs it is recommended the bulb covers three quaryers of the cage to allow for a uv gradient in an area the full...
The amount of times I get asked about this when I say I keep chameleons. I usually get:
So what happens when you put in on something pink?
Me: nothing, they do not blend into anything you out them on
So what about a black object
Me: nothing as they do not blend into what you put them on
So...
I wouldn't use it as the output of a used 10.0 would be way less than a new 5.0. These uv tubes don't give out double the uv compared to a 5.0
I would always say go with a new tube.
Also a 10.0 isn't just for desert animals. I use all 10.0 bulbs and higher on my chameleons right from...
I use the same bulb above my reptibreeze cages and love them. Your cage looks great. I still feel people are too scared to use high output uv tubes and stick to a standard 5.0 bulb. In comparison a 5.0 is totally rubbish compared to these bulbs.
People still worry about using a 10.0 but...
I like them. They are easy to gutload and move a lot more than other species. I generally use the smaller sizes for my phelsuma as my local shop doesnt do bandeds in bigger sizes.
They are smaller through and the males chirp a lot more.
We can easily get ambanjas and ambilobe here but they are nowhere near the quality of the ones in the us, especially the ambanjas.
Most ambanjas look like ambilobe.
Ambilobe are getting a ,ot better and we have a big breeder who has lines from screameleons with sambava, ambilobe and nosy...
I personally would go with the 12% as it is heavily planted and I take it will be above mesh?
My veiled did very well under the 12% and I now use them on my panthers too even in cages smaller than this.
As long as the animal can go into shade if it wishes then there is no reason why the...
Some people have tried it and had problems with it, mainly with panthers. I feel giving it everyday is too much. I think it will be giving too much D3 and vitamins. They have now developed a low vitamin one which shows the direction of use everyday was t correct for all species, my belief is...
