A certain percentage is lost through the screen. I no longer agree with 5.0 for rainforest animals and 10.0 for others. I use 12% T5 arcadia bulbs on mine. It ensures lots of uv gets through the mesh. I always recommend at least a 10.0 bulb with reflector if sitting above mesh to account for any...
She can't be seen by any other chameleon or anything else in fact. I found it weird how she fully dug her hole then left. The substrate held the tunnel well so I do not think it was to do with that.
She is eating and drinking normally this morning so hopefully she will be fine.
Yesterday my female laid 36 eggs. These look infertile but could be fertile from retained sperm but to me they do look infertile.
She dug her hole in her laying bin as usual which is a micture of sand and soil right to the bottom as any female would but then has come out and went back into...
If anything screen cages will be easier to clean. If you are worried too much about night time temps a low wattage ceramic heat lamp on a thermostat will do the job but you probably will not need it. Because you want a couple of spikes in humidity throughout the day it will not be humid enough...
You will be fine using the screen cage in the uk. Humidity is actually more stable and heating is fine. As long as the basking spot is correct the animal will self regulate its temperature. The night time drop in temperature is really beneficial too. I do cover three sides of the cages though...
You can us the calcium plus once a week or so alongside pure calcium on other feeds.
The problem with it was the fact that it stated it could be used daily on practically any species. Personally I feel if there was not any issues they would not have made a lower and higher vitamin version.
I would agree a panther or veiled. My veileds prefered it hotter than my panthers.
Another difference I found is my panthers like more water but other than that I keep both species exactly the same.
Veileds seem to be a little more forgiving
They were all certainly infertile. I incubated and all moulded and went flat within the first three weeks.
I may start feeding her every two days then and see how she goes. She is still showing her receptive colours and climbing around the cage a lot.
The breeder of my male has had a...
I would not use a fogger and go for a misting system alongside a dripper. I would get the mistking misting system as it is the very best and a zoo med little dripper. The misting system will allow the chameleon to drink but also the dripper will to alongside misting.
I do not see how it adds on to each other. It may be slightly higher than on bulb but you are not goin to get the same uv as one 12% bulb by having two 6% bulbs.
I am guessing you have an an Exo terra compact bulb in one of their hoods. They are rubbish! Put the bulb in something else and they last ok but in their own hoods they just seem to blow! I would personally only use tube uv bulbs with a starter system. They blow much less.
Generally it is best to wait until a year of age before mating them but I they are at the size and weight they would be at a year old at ten months there shouldn't be problems.
If a female is receptive in the wild a male does not ask her age they simply mate. At 10 months she is likely to be...
