Is this too small for a lay bin? If it is too small how much bigger does it need to be? Keep in mind my chameleon Otis has MBD and a 5 gallon bucket was a bit too big for her to get in and out of
Just placed my order for 250 large BFSL I didn't have the money to ship fast so I got the standard 3 day shipping I hope they'll still be in decent shape when I get them.
From what I've read the older the BSFl the harder the shell, if the ones your getting are soft could you let me know where your getting them from? Being the vet said about them causing blockages, I want to be really cautious about this.
The people I got her from said they had to hand feed her but my experience with her since Thursday is that she has been using her tounge, I've only witnessed her eat two crickets this way but more than that have disappeared (don't know if some have escaped or not, haven't found any in the house)...
Thanks for the info, I do have a question, actually two,
Is there an easy way to get her to open her mouth? It was very frustrating trying to give her the meds today.
Also, the pet store only had large crickets on hand yesterday and she doesn't seem to want them, if a cricket is too large will...
Yes she said being they weren't very ovular yet that she may not be quite ready to lay them, she said that the calcium supplement will really help to harden the eggs as well as her bones, basically her eggs were stealing calcium from her bones and that's why the mbd got so bad. I'm sorry this...
Pretty simple as far as the schedule goes, they gave me a marked syringe so I know how much calcium to give (only a few drops to avoid risk of aspirating) she also showed me how to avoid the windpipe when administering medication, I need to give the calcium once a day and give her as many...
Just got back from the vet, definitely pregnant and has MDB, the vet said she can recover with loads of calcium over the next six months. She says her bones will start to re establish themselves over time. I will post X-ray later for anyone interested. Thanks for all the help everyone.
It's on and off, she slept during the day the first day I had her, could this have been because of the stress of a long car ride? Because ever since then she'll only sleep during the day for an hour or two and then she's ready guy to the top of her enclosure.
I have to take her to the vet this...
I see I wasn't sure if spraying her too much directly was a good thing or not but i get it now, I'll definitely make or invest in some type of automated system and install some sort of drain pan.
Did you see my last reply on the lighting? I couldn't find anywhere which color was best to use...
I was reading about lighting on here an I couldn't find anything about the type of bulb to use, I have a blue bulb that came with her and j understand the temperature I'm looking for but what about color? Red? Blue? White? Which is better or doesn't it matter?
what about the spraying?
You mist for 10-15 mins? I just give the enclosure a good mist to make sure everything is coated which only takes 2 or 3 minutes is that not enough? Do you have a drain for any excess running water that accumulates after spraying that long? I do have a dropper set up but...
Thanks for all the info, I didn't know about the substrate I'll get it removed asap, as for the laying bin I followed some online instructions to make one out of a 5 gallon bucket, I had it in her enclosure for 2 days and she never once attempted to dig or even get in it(I placed her in it...
