A mite? Where do they come from?

Well, in light of the responses, I'm going to follow my gut instinct, which is to see if I see anything more of this. I have had gnats fly around the cage, and I would like to re-pot my plants. This thing seemed SO tiny, though, so I felt unsure. Also, I had only noticed it ON the cham.. but...

A mite? Where do they come from?

Over the past week or so, I have noticed a small black bug on my senegal. It almost looked like just a dot, but I noticed it moved. I never saw it all the time, and I guess I can't be sure it was the same one, because most of the time I didn't notice anything. Today, I saw it again, and this...

    cup feeding vs. freerange

I think it depends on what you are feeding them, too. It's a bit hard to 'free range' superworms and the like.

    Is a money tree safe?

My senegal loves the money tree, too! It grew quick, and I should maybe figure out a way to keep it trimmed and fuller, instead of growing strait up to the light and then burning up.

hand feeding leading to tongue problems?

I use the repcal calcium without D3 almost every feeding, repcal calcium mixed with herptevite approx two times a week, and repcal WITH D3 once a month. I am sad to admit I haven't gotten the supers onto a fresh gutload diet. They have the feed they come in, which I'm not exactly positive of...

Not curling tail up all the way? Loosely curled

Lately, it has appeared to me that my senegal's tail seems 'thinner'. I wasn't sure it it's just she's suddenly grown and so it looks a little different, or what. Then, I noticed that it seems like when she curls it up, to rest an espexialy to sleep, that it isn't curled up tightly. As obvious...

hand feeding leading to tongue problems?

Yea, that was a concern that crossed my mind. I figured I would just lead in with the symptoms of the tongue though. I'm fairly sure his eyes are fine. At least, they don't look any different than I've ever noticed, and they are alert. He looks like he zeros both of them in before he shoots.

hand feeding leading to tongue problems?

I have a senegal that I have had since February (about 4 months) and he seems to have some issues with his tongue. I apologize if this should be in the health forum, but it's also an eating issue, and I wonder if I have contributed. When I first got him, I had crickets free in the cage. I...

    Biggest Hormworm... Ever!

I saw one (or something similar) to that once some years back. I live in western Maryland. The thing was huge! It seemed aggressive as well. It was so freakishly huge that I didn't know what to think! All I could imagine was "what kinda mess would that make if it got stomped?! Yuck!"

Diatomaceous Earth vs Panacur/Flag. as natural Dewormer

I was just going to ask... do you mean the same stuff that I have a 5 lb bag on the garage for soaking up spilled oil?

    Did my senegal lay eggs?

definitely seem like eggs! Well, it's been a little over a month and I am cleaning the cage again. I'm pulling these thing out, but they are definitely not part of the soil. There is nothing in the soil, just dirt. They are very small for what I would figure, and of varying sizes, but they...

I have been concerned about my senegal's knee (pics)

Ever since I got her, there have been a few concerns, most of which have been clearing up, and I have asked about. I have always noticed that the left hind knee seems more 'rounded' or 'knobby'.. just not as small or sleek as the others. It doesn't seem to affect behavior or mobility, though. I...

    Did my senegal lay eggs?

I was cleaning the cage, the first major once since getting the cham in feb. I was cleaning the moss and dead leaves out of the pothos (also where the cham was doing the business for awhile). It deffintely needed cleaning. As I was picking stuff out and throwing it away, I pulled out a few...

    Too much reptivite?

Ok, so I guess that's why they suggest the vitamin with the calcium sup. 50/50. Not to be a paranoid consumer, but of course they want you to use the stuff. I guess it's kinda like me taking a multivitamin with my Mcdonalds hamburger every day, eh? If you are gutloading properly, hopefully there...

    Too much reptivite?

I'm just curious, why is it that you only want to do it once a month or so? I understand about the D3, hopefully the UVB light is helping them make most on their own... how about the multivitamin? Is it that if you are properly gutloading, hopefully you don't need it? Just occasionally to be sure?

    Too much reptivite?

I recently picked up the rep-cal calcium without d3, with d3, and reptivite multi-vitamin. I've only had it for less than a month, so I have only given my senegal one dusting of WITH d3 calcium, and have been dusting WITHOUT d3 and reptivite 50/50 mix pretty much every feeding. I went with the...

wow my cham just made the biggest defication yikes!

Sorry for this subject being what it is, but it was shocking! I've had a senegal for just about two months now, and while I haven't made too many posts, things seem to be going well. I started with crickets, but have gone with superworms, as they are easier for me to make sure I see the...

    subcutaneous worm? or ribs? pics

Thanks for the quick responses! I do need to get some calcium supplement. I'm still getting comfortable with everything, and I'm sure he is too. Thanks for the link, Miss Lily! That makes sense. He is in pretty rough shape... He acts normally, but you can notice black spots all over. I'd...

    subcutaneous worm? or ribs? pics

I think I may have noticed this before, but it never registered. I have a senegal I received as a birthday present on the 9th of Feb. So he's still pretty new. He was basking after I misted, I guess he didn't feel like being wet! That's when I really noticed the subtle protrusion down his...

    Dozing during the day?

I did just vacuum last evening! I said to my girlfriend "I bet the chameleon just thought 'what the hell was that?!'" :p Yea, I thought about the moss getting soggy (and also providing a place for the crickets to hide too well). It definitely had a 'damp' smell, though not unpleasant, the...
