Also, you don't want to push down on her back like that. It's hard to tell, maybe she is just crawling through your hand, but you want to be careful and let them just walk on you without applying any pressure to their back or sides.

I don't really think there is a best species though. There are so many differences that make the different species unique in their own way.
They will nibble on plants, which is why its good to have real (non toxic) plants and not fake ones. Like the others mentioned, more plants and branches/vines are good.

You don't want a light at night, it can disturb their sleeping.
A bit of temperature drop at night is fine for a veiled. Your house night temperature should be okay for it.
Hornworms are usually toxic in the wild because they eat tomato leaves. They are fed synthetic food when raised as feeders so they are non-toxic.
