Eek. I am not sure about that! I think I will find another use for them. Just seems silly to throw something out that others raise them for! Thanks everyone! In other news, Neptune is 16g today. He gained 3g this week! I am feeling so much more hopeful about his success now!!!
Hi. Guess what!!!!! I started breeding silkworms. This pair is my first and I grew them from eggs. Now hoping we get more eggs!
Question: for those who do this, what do you do with the silk once they hatch? I have about 7 already. Does anyone sell them or give them away?
Thanks!!!
This ficus tree issue is one I haven't heard before. My cham has eye issues but loves to come out and hang out on the ficus in our kitchen(far back corner, not where people are jetting by). He has never tried to eat it and I have never seen sap on it. Thoughts? Where did this info come from...
Not an expert, but have been dealing with something similar. Our vet did flush his eye and it didn't help our situation at all. I have now been told to go to a clinic that costs $400 just to walk in the door, so that is a no go and outrageous, but our little guy seems totally fine otherwise...
I'm just starting to learn how to breed my own silkworms. Hatched my first 200 eggs and have others at various sizes. I have 6 cocoon's as of this morning and I am sure more tomorrow. It's pretty interesting actually! I had some that were really slow and so I put them in my incubator box...
Following this, as my panther is also having some eye issues that sound just the same. I have done a full review of my lighting and I know it is correct, but don't know how quickly I could expect to see a difference if that is indeed the issue he has been having (uvb too close). It's been...
What's that? I will search for it! In the meantime, he found the new location of his shooting gallery and has eaten quite a few crickets from there. Hoping he keeps moving in this direction!
My panther got an RI and was symptomatic pretty much right when we got him. At 4 ish months he was on antibiotics. It was tough because his leg was really small and the needles were daunting for me, but we got it done and he is breathing well now. The only residual side effect from this is...
I see I am totally late to this. We did this last year and it ended up being a very sad situation for our poor Tarzan and our kids. We got a very sick lizard but when I picked him up, he was acting quite normal. Once in our care, there was nothing we could do. The store wouldn't let us talk...
We have a ficus tree in our kitchen (on wheels!) and so I can place it in front of his cage and he will climb right out onto the tree. My son also has a pothos hanging in his room so he gets to go there sometimes. We call that "grandma's house", though I am not sure why or who started that...
I have a wee little nosy be also! It's hard to tell with the pictures. Was this deep sleeping and during the daytime? My little dude has been having a bit of an eye issue because we had him in a smaller cage for a while and the uvb light was a bit closer than it should have been. Just...
I know it sounds stupid, but our little guy is just that...little! and I was having to buy silks far too often to keep them a good size and shipping was costing as much or more than the worms!
Thanks! I just started raising silworms. Hatched my first set of eggs and had my first cacoon today. My husband is going to lose it or just laugh at me if I try to start roaches too! I will have to check these out.
